A set of layouts in the same session?

Hi amigos!

The Snapshot is a great help. It's like a visual-macro, which remember all your resources in use in a given momment. But I was wondering if we can create separate modules snapshot, so your session will be compound of a set of snapshots, eache one "specialized" in some tasks. Sometimes you don't want to close all. For example, having the ability to create a panel with comments on the NT, and one with OT comments, and other one "specialized" in notes taking, so that you can open and close without having to close the entire session.

Now, we have the option for "Open all in a floating window", but always part of the current session and can not be treated as a separate "module" that you can save. However, would be this possible? Regards.

Not know about new ideas; sometimes wonder about different terminology. [;)] Also appears more users would appreciate saving and opening a set of resources and tools in a floating window. Opening a folder from favorites does work; albeit takes some time to rearrange as desired.

Thankful God knows a lot more than me, along with His timing being perfect.

Roger, you can accomplish what you want using Favorites. Create a folder in Favorites for all the resources you want to associate with a particular "panel" (e.g., NT Comments), then drag resources to that folder that you'd want to open all at once. Now when you want to use this set of resources, right click on its Favorites folder and choose "Open all in a floating window". If you would prefer to have them docked together in a new panel, then Shift+Click on any one of the tabs in this floating window and drag to a new panel location in your layout. When you're done with this set of resources, if it's in a floating window, just close the floating window. If you've docked them together in a new panel, then right-click on any one of the tabs and choose Close all tabs (it will only close the tabs in this particular panel).

The only weakness of this approach is that when you open resources from Favorites, it remember the location of when that resource was saved to Favorites, not the last location you were at the last time that resource was open.

Thanks Rosie. It seems favorites is a more powerful tool than you might think.

(But how hard to be happy!). [8o|]

I still wonder whether it would be more practical to have "favorites" in a dropdown menu next to "Tools", or be able to select a file in "Favorites" and drag it to the shortcuts area.
