I'd really like to purchase the NIVAC but the pricing is a stretch for the budget. Does it ever go on sale?
Any suggested alternatives?
Thanks
Yes, It goes on sale from time to time. It was actually on sale at Christmas. You should also be aware that the OT volumes are on pre-pub.
Do you happen to recall the price? Thanks for the OT pre-pub heads up.

It was $249.99 during the twelve days of Christmas
Aw rats. I totally missed it.
Why not call a sales rep and see what they can do on the price? It's worth a shot.
Also keep in mind that payment plans can be used on Logos resources that are not still in Pre-Pub or Community Pricing.
You could pay for the collection over the course of a whole year if you wanted to.
Thanks for the thought on payment plans! Current issue is not timing of payments but just the amount. Are there any alternatives to NIVAC?
I don't know if the NIVAC will be on sale or not, but Logos usually has a big sale in March as well. [;)]
this is my recommendation.
As far as alternative sets, it's kind of hard to find the blend that NIVAC has. There are some "application" type commentaries, such as the Preacher's Commentary series (and others), but often are written by one person and not as academic (even though NIVAC is not overly technical). There are good sets for basic exegetical questions, such as Tyndale (complete Bible) or IVP (New Testament) or Expositors BC (complete Bible), and they are reasonably priced, but they have little application. Perhaps you might consider the Bible Speaks Today set for only ca. $99. Some consider it outdated, but many still consider it quality, written from a variety of authors, and still wrestles with application. John Stott, Michael Green, Michael Wilcock, Raymond Brown . . . one could do a lot worse.
And, really, you could pick up a couple of these sets for less than the price of NIVAC (New Testament only) on sale.
And, as always, check with a sales rep, they do a lot to help out when they can.

Thanks Dan for your thoughts on this. I'll definitely check out the Preacher's Commentary and Bible Speaks Today. I've got an email out to Logos, hoping they respond with some good news!
I would add: always check with a search engine

Sorry David, I don't quite get what you mean.

he means, see if other places offer products for cheaper. even if you do that, I'd say, check back with the sales rep.
Santiago said it was a special deal and he couldn't do anything. No academic pricing either for me.
Sorry about that. Sometimes it can happen to your benefit. Zondervan deals seem few and far between which I have assumed to be the result of Zondervan's stipulations. I have received deals in the past for other publishers sets (WBC, for example) I have also not always gotten deals. Depends.
I rather suspected that may be the case with it being a Zondervan product, discounts on their products after production have historically been rather sparse to say the least. I was very, very surprised when NIVAC was one of the 12 days of Christmas deals.
The problem you've got with NIVAC is that, unlike most of the options suggested by Dan, the only place you can buy the NIVAC in Logos format is from Logos themselves. So if you really want to get it at a discount the only thing you can do is hope it is included again at some stage in the future in one of the sales.
Might fit the bill at the price you want even though it's a bit of a wait.
