Logos for mac does not open layout, no tools in menu

This happened right after the restart from an update to Logos yesterday. Version reported is 5.51.0.2048. Logos starts, does not show any errors on the screen but the main window never appears. I can get to resources through the library window. There are no layouts under the layout menu item and the other menu items are missing many normal items. I tried the "start with blank layout", did not work. I have rebooted the system several times. I uninstalled and reinstalled last night. There was some hope since that allowed the main windows to display, although with missing resources since they were not downloaded yet, and the menu worked normally. Went to bed thinking that every thing was good, got up, the download had finished, started logos and the exact same thing started happening. 2548.untitled folder.zip I turned on debug, here are the logos logs. I'm not sure what else to do outside of firing up vmware and loading it in windows. And of course I have a paper due Sunday night and need Logos to finish it.

Dale - I am not a techie, so I will defer to other users. I do want to point out to whoever comes along, that this seems to be the same problem that another forum user (another Dale!) was having in THIS THREAD.

Looking at log files, noticed Indexer.log file shows indexing in progress so search is not ready for use; wondering if resource download complete ? indexing complete ? Option: can hover on blue Logos icon in menu bar for status.

The Logos4.log file has a number of errors about "Saved item is from a different version of this resource." for calendar devotional "My Utmost for His Highest" that is followed by a crash. Wonder if calendar devotional has downloaded ?

Apologies: since not have diagnostic logs before uninstall to compare, not know if this crash is the "exact same thing" as before. Also, the "exact same thing" as before may happen again (if issue was caused by sync to Logos 4). From a different thread => Logos 4 Crashes on Startup wondering if you have created any favorites using an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) ?

Would have been interesting to enable diagnostic logging before uninstalling, then repeat launch issue. Likewise wondered about screen shot(s) showing menu abnormalities (would have been interesting to see).

The other variant for "start with blank layout" is work offline, which may have worked earlier (updated couple wiki pages with work offline for sign in). Apologies: updated wiki with "Work offline" option for sign-in. Also added:

Note: Logos 4.5 added sync on startup, which may take awhile. While sync is in progress, have option to click a button to start using Logos 4 Mac.

By the way, uninstall and reinstall is only needed when something is corrupt, which shows up with certain messages in Logos4.log diagnostic file.

Thanks, the download was complete, In fact I'm using those resources in the Vmware windows load so that I can get stuff done. I've never had an issue getting the screen if the indexer was running, searches of course where not complete but at least resources were accessible. I made some snips of what the menu is showing me. 8255.Menu Items.zip I'm not sure what you are meaning by favorites in IOS, I've used Logos a little but prefer the mac/pc interface. I did do a reading plan with my utmost some time in the past but nothing recently. The timing of the error and my need made it necessary to try the uninstall after researching the forums for possible answers. While I'd like to get the mac interface functional at least I can run Logos on a virtual XP, it works but looks odd (in an unmac like way) when in unity mode.3858.Unity shot.zip

I made some snips of what the menu is showing me.

The Go and Guide menus look correct. Window menu is missing "Logos Bible Software 4" while File menu is missing lots. Wonder if a gray box was on screen, which has a button so can use Logos 4 Mac ?

Wondering if old reading plan sync data from iOS is affecting Logos 4.5a, which added reading plan update using Sync v2 framework. If sync data is causing Logos 4 Mac issue, anticipate happening again after uninstall and reinstall once sync data is downloaded from Logos servers. Depends on what Logos needs to do to fix sync data issue, recognize potential for Logos 4.5a service release.

There was no grey box on the screen, logos had nothing going on but the menu. I think that you may be on to something with the sync data. I did play with that sometime back but I don't use it on a regular basis. Outside of some time machine wizardry is there any way to go back to an earlier version?

BINGO!!! It is the reading plans. Since I had the windows install I deleted them. I also reloaded the Logos app on the iphone and deleted them from there. Shutdown logos and the indexer, restarted and everything looks better.

Outside of some time machine wizardry is there any way to go back to an earlier version?

Observation: once a newer version has been installed and used, Logos can invisibly change some sync setting(s) for your Logos.com account.

Looking at Logos 4 Mac stable RSS feed, noticed links to 4.5 and 4.5a releases.

Wiki has Quick Installation onto Multiple Macs => Copy Logos 4 Resources to Mac OS X (Supported – saves resource downloading) that I have used to create an older, offline Logos 4 Mac installation in a different Mac user account. My hard disk had adequate space available.
