Exegetical Guide

There appears to be a difference in the results the EG gives for an OT reference comparted with an NT reference. For example the NT gives teh "word ring" in the "Word by Word" section. From this one can do an Englishman's search. However in the OT there appears to be no equivalent "ring". Or have I missed something?

Martin, are you refering to the Exegetical Guide with its word by word report? Or are you thinking of the Word Study Report? As best as I know the Exegetical guide's word by word report doesn't bring in the tranlation ring from the Word Study report. I would love to see it brought in along with the other features from the Word Study report! In fact while in Beta I comped up just such a feature. I'll attach a screen shot and again make the suggestion to combine the word study report with the word-by-word report!

Wasn't it based on the fact that the BWS is based on a word and the EG is based on a passage...

I think it was I who pointed that out in the discussion. You are right though, with the current set up the Word by word guide take a passage whereas the word study guide takes a word so there's no way to combine them. But what the exegetical guide does is essentially take a passage and break it up into seperate words and then pull up the lemma data for each word. Since the exegetical guide is already breaking up a passage into seperate words, why not run each of those words through the word study guide and have all the data right there at your fingers instead of having to run a word study report on each word seperatly?

Which parts of the Bible Word Study Guide would you want to be able to integrate into the Exegetical Guide for each word? Everything -- example uses, grammatical relationships, etc.? Or just parts of it?

(Every time I read some magazine columnist going on about how people don't need high power machines anymore...argh!)

Ideally I would like to be able to customize what the guide brings in. Perhaps it as simple as using our Word Study Guide default as the template for what gets brought in? Otherwise I say bring everything in. Either way, I agree speed would be an issue. [:P] I imagined only the lemma report defaulting to open with everything else defaulting to close. That way we aren't forced to wait as the guide works through each and every section, but we are left with the option to open up the information we do want without having to run a seperate report.

Would even having a set up such as this where everything but the lemma report defaults to close still be a major speed constraint?

I think you are right, it is in the Word Study Guide. In my effort to climb the learnign curve with Logos 4 I somehow thougth the "ring" was in EG.
