How can I find out how many times אדן adonay is translated Lord with a capital L as opposed to a lower case l in the ESV? There must be a way to do this, but I am stumped.
This is probably the simplest but by no means intuitive:-
You have to set "match case" in the Search menu.
Type אדן in the Search box and select אדן.1 = lord, then type the other term.
WITHIN 0 chars means that it is at the same interlinear location/box as "Lord".
You have to allow the possibility of "LORD" as well as "Lord", especially for other bibles e.g.
lemma:אדן.1 WITHIN 0 chars (Lord, LORD)
For an explanation see http://wiki.logos.com/Search_HELP and http://wiki.logos.com/Detailed_Search_Help
Also can use words (instead of chars):
lemma:אדן:1 WITHIN 0 WORDS (Lord,Lord's)
Note: all upper case LORD does not appear in the English Reverse Interlinear Bibles in my Logos Library.

Dave and KS4J gave you good answers. Just a comment though, since the first letter of a sentence is capitalized it's possible that some "Lord"s would be "lord" if not at the beginning of a sentence.
Unfortunately the syntax database doesn't appear to tag adonai as divine when it's clearly God being addressed...
Thanks!! That is very helpful. Not intuitive, though, I will admit.
BUT why does it return twice as many results as expected? It gives me two hits for each verse, as it does in both of your examples above. You can see that from the number shown in the search results, and also when you click on "aligned" it becomes obvious. But I don't know why...

Morph search is counting the number of lemma's found plus the number of translations found (a known bug):
