Why should you bid $50 on this set?

Because the commentary by James Durham is worth the entire price. The rest of the volumes are gravy on top.

Have you noticed that there are many that have bid $160 and $170 for this set – they are NOT crazy. When this set was first announced there were multiple posts by some of them telling how several subsets within this set were truly worth the high bids - EACH. By their ‘faith’ in this set, as shown by their high bids, they show that this is a set that we should have. We can get it for them [and ourselves] at one third what they know it is worth. [[If anyone gets upset by my use of the word ‘faith’ above I am sorry that I have stepped on your toes but I see the act of biding that high as an act covered by the generic word ‘faith’ not the religious word of the same spelling.]]

And also because: 7. Because Rosie collects Revelation commentaries and would really like to have this set, and she needs more people to bid $50 to make sure it goes into production

So buy this set at $50 to thank Rosie for all of her help.

I think Rosie had bid $160, as she really wanted that set, even at that price, so I think she's been very public spirited to lower her bid. Thinking of those of us who'd like the set, but not at that price.

In the past couple of weeks someone seems to have moved their bid back up to $160 from 50, since the bump at $160 has grown. Stop that! We don't want this to go over the top at $160. I'm not worried that I'll miss out on the set if I hang in there at $50, even if more people bid $160. But what's the point of doing that? If all the new people who bid choose $50, it will go over the top at $50. But if we keep upping our bids to $160 out of fear that will miss out on it, then it will guarantee newbies (who feel they can afford it) will bid $160 and it will go over the top at three times the price. Not necessary.

Observation: if 100 % of estimated production cost for 12,448 pages is initially covered by $ 160 bids, fewer additional bids are needed to lower price for all bidders.

Likewise suspect if all $ 50 bidders would raise their bids to $ 90, current price could drop to $ 90, which has a discount over 90 % compared to $ 934.95 hard copy purchase.

Agree. I only bid $50 because the thread said, "Rosie needs help". Who am I to deny Rosie needed assistance?
