UPDATED Dictionary of Latin Forms

We have published an update to the free Dictionary of Latin Forms resource. This update corrects a problem that caused the indexer to take a very long time to index the book, and to create an extremely large index file.

If you have not successfully finished indexing the first version of the resource, just run "update now" to download the new copy (which should restart indexing automatically).

If you have successfully indexed the first version of the resource (e.g., by letting it run overnight), we recommend that you run "rebuild library index" after the updated resource has been installed to optimise the performance of your index. (This may take several hours or more, so we suggest running it overnight.)

I did download, let it finish, then redownload. When it downloaded a second time, it did index again. Should I rebuild my index anyway?

I'm not Richard, but I am reindexing… and that is a bigger commitment since I am on Mac (and it takes considerably longer). If you really need to use your Logos right now, you might want to wait for an answer.

Concur hours are needed to rebuild index; albeit Logos 4.5b Beta 1 is noticeably faster on Windows than Mac (e.g. Windows Bible index was done in 33 minutes while Mac needed a bit over 2 hours). Depends on library size, overnight may not be long enough to reindex Logos 4 Mac.

If I need to rebuild the index, I'll start it at the end of my 'desk time.' If I don't hear back, I'll just do it anyway.

Rebuilding is still recommended for optimization in this case.

This data could slow down the performance of your index, and will use extra disk space unnecessarily.)

This little update did not come at a good time for me. [:(]

My netbook has done a "first time indexing" three times in the last two weeks. And two of those are after I turned off internet use and auto-update and my wireless.

I'm now installing on a real laptop and begun the "first time indexing". Will it never end?

The indices were divided into "Bible Index" and "Library Index." The "Library Index" is basically everything that is not a Bible.

So, if you don't want to rebuild all your indices, "rebuild library index" will do for this situation.
