Question about Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament

I'm using the Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament bundle and have a question. Occassionally I see a black dot preceding a word, but I can't figure out what it means. Most items in the bundle let me click on them and give me excellent explanations. However, this doesn't happen with the black dots. As an example, see below from John 6:

You can see in verse 63 there is a black dot right before "life" in the line "The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life".

Can someone please tell me what this means?

I believe they are for untranslated Greek words. If you look at that same verse in the ESV & open the Reverse Interlinear pane, you'll see ἐστιν before "life" marked with a dot. I think that this is what it's referring to.

Thanks - it looks like ἐστιν is redundant and that's why it wasn't translated. Are there reasons other than redundancy that a word would be omitted when translated into English?

I think in most cases it's due to the words not being needed to create a clear English translation. I think that happens a lot of times with και and other prepositional type phrases that could be seen as redundant or not necessary for translation. That's the only time I've noticed it.
