Oneness theology

I was studying oneness theology, and was looking for some good first hand resources namely a commentary or something of that nature. I am trying to find out what they believe on a paticular passage, and I am having a hard time finding material to look into. Any ideas?? Big Smile

David K Bernard is the main Oneness writer who systematically lays out the Oneness view. Like any view though it has variations. Many wouldn’t agree with Bernard in all areas.

It is my understanding that oneness theology is the current form of Modalism. Because of this, I do not believe that there are going to be many resources written from this viewpoint.

That is my understanding also. David Bernard appears to be the primary apologist for this movement. You might try to find something by him.

This will only give Blair the viewpoint from the apologist; not the viewpoint of a person who holds an oneness theology position.

Do you have additional suggestions that may better serve Blair?

My debate professor would do the "switch-a-roo" on the students by having us prepare to defend our side of the issue and when the debate took place she would require us to go to the opposite podium and argue in support of the view we did not believe in. So I know it is possible to successfully argue a position you do not believe. But in general do not most apologists believe what they speak out in support of?

Thanks I looked him up and found a book called the oneness of God. I was trying to find there position on 1 pet 3:22. I was able to go to the scripture index of the book, and found that they treat it something purely symbolic.

There are others other than Bernard, unfortunately not many from logos. You can google oneness and the others mentioned and read directly from their sites. Bernard seemed to subside but there are branches that stem from his original writings.

Nope, note at all. I think that we both understand that in some areas Logos resources are lacking. As per Bob’s post –which some misread- they[Logos] are open for suggestions, but there are copyrights that must first be addressed so some may take longer than others or may not be at all.

But in the true realm of reality – to understand anothers faith – talk to one of them. Book knowledge is good, reading a resource to discover the history of the definition is good as well, provided it is of one who holds that belief and not one who has a bias against it.

But, again the reality, talk to one who holds to that belief. This stays with the music but the only ear-hurting-note is that doing so here will only bring about problems, as to which we can read.

Looks like typical spam post to me. First time poster posting an irrelevant link having to do with something unrelated to the forum (wills and testaments), who made up some text based on what people were talking about in the thread to make us think he's joining in on the conversation, but it was obviously bland/generic text, not really understanding the subject. I would not try to follow that link if I were you. It's probably a site for some company or software that does wills and testaments.
