Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics by Daniel B. Wallace - revised edition 5 years away

I and perhaps others have been holding off from buying Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics by Daniel B. Wallace in Logos

because a major revised edition is in the works, including samples from the Church Fathers, etc.

But I saw Dr. Wallace today at the ETS Regional meeting in Fort Worth, and when I asked him about it, he said such a revision is at least 5 years away.

So I guess there is no reason to wait for this resource if one could use it now.

Good reference you should consider getting it, I have it and like it. The only draw back is will logos update it to the revised edition, an answer would be will we still be here to see it happen…

I have it in print, as well as its abridged version, and also have it on a Zondervan Pradis CD. I don't know if I can still get a discount for getting it in Logos (I don't have any kind of product key or box, just the original CD). I'll probably use my Christmas Credit to buy it; maybe my sales rep can get me a deal. [H]

I'm a bit less enthusiastic about it. One problem is that he tends to create too many categories and another (more disturbing to me) is that his rules for identification of a form's useage is based on how one would translate it. The problem with that is that by the time you decide how to translate a form you've already determined its use so that it really doesn't make much sense.

Thanks George, I also like to have more than one, so that the comparison is not one of bias, But yes I would agree that we must be careful when choosing how to, or within what syntactical parameters, to interpret. It is like having only one translation, if thats all we have then we may miss what others have done, thus we will tend to form a bias for that translation.

Multiplicity is often a good guide to better understanding.....I know many's that gots good book talk - but lack the street communication to get it out there....
