Highlight Style Note indicators

Is there a way to change the default 'Note Indicator' and 'Note Colour' for a given style?

I am wanting, for some highlight styles, to always generate the 'pop-up' text for my comments. It can be done manually, but that means each time that I apply a style I have to manually change both settings, (and choose the colours/shapes consistenly Embarrassed !).

You get this box by clicking on a note indicator in a notes file.

(My screenshot is from Windows but I think Mac works the same)

Unfortunately ... no.

This set the default for the context menu when 'adding a note to ...'

I am looking at the highlight styles themselves, that each style should have a default note marker/colour.

For example, I use a style called 'not sure about this' where I identify areas that I disagree with / or need to check up on. For this style I would like a yellow box with a questions mark. Another style 'Important point' would be a red star, yet my 'own emphasis' style needs no note icon because it is not for annotation but simply to emphasise a word within a block of text that I may have already highlighted.

I want the note indicators because of their pop-up facility, in the same way that bible verses pop-up. Putting text at the start/end of the highlight style does not give the same pop-up facility.

These note icons also allow me to more quickly review my notes files for the 'key points' or 'read around' aspects etc.

Hi Martin - sorry, I didn't understand what you were looking for.

And I'm afraid I am still struggling!

I think you are wanting to start from the highlighting palette, to apply a highlight and for this to generate some form of popup

What pop-up do you want to be generated? At the moment, as far as I can see, even after modifying icons / colours you just get a popup referring to the name of the palette

I'm clearly missing something - can you expand a little further? Maybe with some screen shots to show what you are doing with comments as to what you would like to happen

When you highlight text it creates an entry in a note file.

Go to that entry and add some text (it might take a while to find the entry, the mac version does not seem to expand to the newly created entry [:#]).

The default note marker and colour for the new text entry is a transparent square.

If you change the shape and colour of the note marker to another setting, say a blue circle, then a blue circle appears in the resource, next to the highlighted text.

Try hovering over the blue circle in the resource ... the text that you entered is now visible as a hovering pop-up, just like scripture references etc. That is what I am after!!! [:D] In addition, clicking on the blue circle takes you directly back to the original text entry (easy to edit) [:D].

'Add a note' (context menu) defaults to the yellow square (or whatever, since it uses the 'default' that you outlined above). It uses the same symbol for any annotation that you want to make and does not mark the text.

Highlights do mark the text but do not use a marker, and therefore there is no hovering pop-up or easy editing.

At the moment, every highlight that I make has to have the shape and colour of the marker manually edited. I would like the ability to set it so that highlight style 'A' uses a red star, style 'B' uses a yellow question mark, and 'C' does not use markers etc.

It seems to me if I can change the note marker on a highlight manually then it should be possible to change the the note marker automatically by having the note marker tied into the highlighter style alongside 'Font Styling', 'Background'; 'Text Effects' etc. (as seen when editing a style).

Instinct says that the setting should be there but I just cannot see it!!!

I think this is the issue (and it reminds me of some discussions when this was in beta testing).

I think this is by decision so would need Logos people to comment on this.

I thought about this but wondered about the priority over other hover facilities ... such as embedded bible links.

I wanted to use the highlight pallets as a quick way to add notes while doing early sermon prep, but I have the same problem. I would like to have my note indicator show up for certain highlighting styles.

Why can't we choose to show indicator by default of the styles we choose. Hope this feature is available soon.
