Creating Images in Faithlife
Just want to start off by saying I am so grateful to Logos for the ground they are breaking with Faithlife. It is an incredible advantage to be able to build a website and at the same time get the most out of sharing the information I have invested in with small groups. My question is --will there eventually be a way to place a bitmap image or jpeg, etc. into the "news" posts? As a high school teacher, I am reminded daily that if we want students to really "learn," we must allow them some creativity. They can glean some information from 'swapping notes" and reading posts, but what a boon it would be to actually allow them to be creative by posting images they create to help them truly understand Scripture. Thanks again for this wonderful platform--I am blessed to be able to "experiment around" with such a talented group of people!

If you paste a URL that links to an image (e.g., http://example.com/myimage.jpg), Faithlife should show a preview of that image with your post. (The image already has to be hosted on some other site for this to work; eventually, there may be support for uploading an image direct to Faithlife. One easy way to upload an image is to install Dropbox, put an image file in your Dropbox "Public" folder, then right-click it and choose Dropbox > Copy public link. If you paste that Dropbox public link into your Faithlife post, the full image should appear.)

No, but if you install dropbox, it provides one way to attach images. Let me quickly explain… Dropbox is a "cloud" provider. It is a way to share files across computers. There are free accounts & paid accounts (I just use the free one). When you install dropbox on your PC, Mac, or iOS device, any file you place in your "dropbox" will be available to you on that device.
An additional feature is the "public" folder within dropbox. Anything you place in this folder is available to the public, although it is hidden behind a weird web address. What this allows you to do is to "share" files with others via a web link. What Bradley is suggesting is that you place the photo you want to share into a "public" dropbox folder. When you do this, you can right click to get the special web link. This link is what you would paste into the post. Faithlife will recognize the weblink, find the photo, and attach it.

OH… You don't HAVE to use dropbox… it is just one (good) option. The point is that you need to use a weblink (which files in a "public" dropbox folder provide).
Well yes and no, to both your posts....
see this pic, it is upload as if using dropbox - BUT - no image that I have uploaded ANYWHERE will get pasted in the F-Life forums....[by the way i copied it from 'yo morris' and pasted it right to here - because it is already uploaded] - so if Bradley says it will currently work I want to see it...[no offense intended]
Thanks.

Room4more--I agree with your post on Biblion Study Group, let's remember we're in the beta phase...my whole point in bringing up "images" is exactly the point you are making here--a way to integrate images should be a part of this process0

Agreed. But we should not have to use ""this[being specific]"" program to do so..it should be fairly universal.

I know what you mean--At my other website which is hosted by Wordpress dropping in images is integrated into building the website without the use of another outside program to do so...but the other website can't integrate my resources from Logos--guess we "want it all" don't we...maybe in time--appreciate the conversation about this issue...[Y]

R4M - I am going to sound a little snarky. Please forgive me. Remember… this is BETA. You were not even supposed to have access to it. If you have suggestions or Bugs, please share. But don't gripe about it. [;)]

I just posted an image hosted on one of my own sites in the faithlife beta group without any problems, so I'm really not quite sure why this seems to be an issue here to be honest

OK I am getting close to the bottom of this. Here is one of the images you are trying to post on faithlife:
The source of this image is [http://biblion.bridge2thefuture.com/biblion/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/John2-18thru22.jpg].
However, for some reason, when posting to faithlife, the 'http:' part is being stripped out of the HTML code, resulting in:
<img class="image-content" src="//biblion.bridge2thefuture.com/biblion/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/John2-18thru22.jpg">
This is not a valid reference, hence the graphic is not
shown.Unfortunately, I do not know why this is happening

Faithlife will soon have a photo gallery feature where you can directly upload photos, too.
