Are their known problems with some books on Ipad?
I have problems with some of my books on Ipad.
With most of my books it works all right. But some books are incredibly slow. It may take up to 1 minute to turn a page (sometimes even longer) - and sometimes the app just crashes and then it takes several minutes to open the app again.
I have downloaded about 50 books. Some books that made the app crash and be very slow are John Owen's Hebrews commentary and some journals. This happens even though I put the Ipad in airplane-mode.
Today I gave up on reading Journal for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood as the app was several minutes about turning a page and finally crashed.
I tried reading another book and there was no problem: Quick turning of pages and no crash.

Do you have a book that is part of a base package that exhibits this behavior? I have an iPad and Platinum, but neither of these books.

Owen was in the Master Collection 2010 and the journals are in the Theological Journals bundle. Yes, I do have a base package also. (Portfolio)

Curious about verse and volume since Master Library Builder (2,010 vols.) has seven Hebrew commentary volumes by John Owens.

It was vol 1 of 'An exposition on the epistle of Hebrews' by John Owen. I
had to delete it on my Ipad because it stopped the app from working. I
had put it in a splitscreen with a bible - and if I was not very careful
it would suddenly show up again.
BUT the problem has not been only with this book. During the last month
there have been others that didn't work. I have been able to download
them, but cannot turn pages etc. Yesterday I had the problem with
'Journal of biblical manhood and womanhood' no 9, spring 2004.
That's why I asked if there are known problems with some of the books.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing. Is it the app, my network or
the books that are causing problems?0 -
I too have had similar problems. Most recently it was with the Moody Handbook of Theology. It has jammed up numerous times and even shows a Chinese character in the middle of an article. (pg. 485)

Welcome [:)]
Apologies: unable to replicate using Vyrso 2.1.0 (with footnotes displayed on page).
Note: personally tend to close apps not in use along with use iPad in airplane mode.

If you have a problem with a book that is downloaded, the first thing to do is delete it and download it again. I had to that with Louw-Nida to get it to work properly. I don't have any journals to test, but they may have an issue to report.

Yes, I tried that. I removed the book and then downloaded again. Same thing - it cannot be used

ELA - Several Questions:
- What version of the app are you using?
- Have you tried BOTH apps (Logos & Vyrso)?
- What OS version are you running?
- How much free space is on your device?
- What are the specs of your iPad? What generation?
- Does the same behavior happen if the resource is NOT downloaded?

I have all the resources running V. 2.0.2 of the app on a 3rd gen 64GB and have no issues downloaded or not, online or off. FYI.

- Ad 1: I run version 2.02 of Logos and 2.1.0 of Vyrso
- Ad 2: Yes, I have tried both apps
- Ad 3: I'm running OS version 4.3.5 (8L1)
- Ad 4: I have 23,8 GB free of 32 GB
- Ad 5: It's an Ipad 2
- Ad 6: I tried to use (without downloading) the two book on my IpodTouch (also OS version 4.3.5), and it worked - (but I think that this screen is too small for serious reading) Using the book without downloading them, the books were very very slow (about 30 sec. to turn a page) but at least the app didn't crash.

I'm running Logos version 4.5a SR-1 on one machine. But for the most part I still use Libronix - except for word-studies etc. I still haven't synced the larger note-files, so my notefiles mainly consist of highlights. So no, my files are in no way large.
The wheel is not spinning. When I use the app for most of the time I switch to airplane-mode. I read on another website that this would make the app work much quicker. And it certainly does. But this didn't work with the books here - and a few others.

Updating to iOS 5.1 might help, since the app is update for iOS 5 (since iOS 4 is what was listed)

ELA,
Other options to checkoff: When connected to iTunes check to see if 'others' in storage is very large. Do a 'Hard Reset'. Hope these help.
And it is to early for these but your traits are pointing to: Replace from backup. Make appointment with Apple Genius.
Good catch Philana.

OK, thank you for your help. It seems that not many other people are experiencing problems - so I will just have to wait and see. I can live with not being able to read a few books. If I experience further problems with books I'll contact customer service and see what they say.
I will not update to OS 5 - that will give me other problems with other apps. Besides - the apps should work with OS 4.

I have a couple of apps that have not will not work with OS 5.
I believe the OS 5 problem will solve itself next time I buy a device; many times updating will cause a lot of trouble and sometimes even remove functionality that you liked and used. I usually play it safe and update after some time when all the errors have been removed and when I have an idea what the update will actually do.
It's too much hassle and stress to do all the updating and then it will take another 2-3 weeks before everything - or nearly everything - works again (hopefully). So OS 5 is not for me at the moment (even though I know it should be OK by now)

ELA, that is a nice steady course. Customer Service is awesome and you will be blessed. I am waiting for the newest release of the Logo's App. Praise God and Blessings to you.
