Has any thought gone into this or is there any policy?

    When a pastor has collected a library of hardcover books, on retirement or death he was able (or the estate) to pass this library on to another.  Generally the library was passed on to a young pastoral student or a struggling pastor.  In some cases it was passed on to form the library of a start up school, Bible College, or Seminary.

    Considerable funds are invested in a LOGOS library.  However, unlike a hardcover library, the library is tied to a license.  Books in a hardcover library were paid for once to the publisher and author(s) and could be passed on by the purchaser.

    Is there any procedure or any policy to give away a LOGOS library on retiring or death of the owner?  If not, this should be looked into and developed.  I realize LOGOS is a business  So were (are) hardcover book dealers.  The "spiritual" information, and grace aspects of that information add (I believe) another dimension of possible giving what has been paid for by the original owner to another as were (and still are) hardcover libraries.

Hi Paul,

There is a policy, but I do not know it. 

I do know that Logos charges a fee (small?) to transfer our licenses to another person.

Paul - As Tom wrote, there is a small fee ($20) to transfer ownership. You can leave your library to whomever you want. NOTE: the fee is "per transaction" (i.e. 1 book or 10,000).

You can do exactly that. They just call Customer service, it cost $20 each time you transfer, it's not based on number of resources.

Just keep in mind that it has to remain "single user".  When I read the title of your post, I thought you were going to suggest a way to donate your Logos resources to a public library!  While I think it would be great if public libraries (or seminary libraries for that matter) could offer Logos resources on their "in-house" computers, the licensing would be a Holy other matter.  [;)]
