In both my account and my wife's account, when we set our birth year and hit save, it sets it to 0007 in my wife's case and 0008 in my case and when you go back to look at the setting, there is nothing in the year field.

I noticed the same thing yesterday, and when I went to tell someone about it they had just fixed it! I imagine the fix will go live with the next update to the site.
