Topic Searching (Can't Find This Questions Answer Anywhere)

I bought many boxed bundles in Logos 3 such as MacArthur, McGee and a
few Nelson products. They all had their own Home pages that I could
select besides the Logos Home page. One of the features of all of these
Home pages was a Topic Search. For instance, if I go to the Logos or
McGee home page and enter the word "Modesty" in the topic Search field
I get something like:

Modesty
(New Nave’s Topical Bible)
Instances
of (New Nave’s Topical Bible)
Modesty
in dress (Nelson's Topical Bible Index)
Modesty
(Where to Find It in the Bible)
Search
entire library for this
topic…

But now in the Logos 4 search I get no results under the topic heading except for suggestions on other words to try and under the "Library Results" pane I get 949 results in 802 articles, most of which have nothing to do with the opic of modesty, only the word is mentioned in the article so it shows up.

Is there any way for me to get results like the Topic Search featur on a Logos 3 Home Page in Logos 4?

Richard,

If you make a Collection of those "topical" resources you like, then Limit your search to that collection - it will appear in the drop down box, it will give you references to those resources only. You decide what you want in that collection: Bible Dictionaries, topical Bibles, etc.

That would work. Others may have a better way to do it.

Logos use some bible dictionaries for topic-finding eg. try "salvation" where I get 3 results. In L3 I get similar results in 8 other dictionaries but "modesty" is only addressed by 3 dictionaries using topic(modesty). It is something Logos are working on as you can see by its suggestions for an alternate search - all those words are tied to the topic "modesty" - just that neither you nor I have the dictionaries that will produce results!

Wow! You folks are fast! I was apprehensive thinking that no one would answer the question, thanks so much for helping us less knowledgeable out.

I have never used collections before, but I have just started making one and I can surely see the usefulness. I had one box set that I really enjoyed and am putting them all into a collection so that I can easily find and search them. Thanks for the hint!

Dave, I sure hope Logos can (I'm sure they will) fix this sometime. I just could not understand getting four topic responses in version 3 and none in 4.

Thanks again for helping. I have Leaders (although I am just a layperson) and am really a novice even though I have used Logos on and off for a few years. I think I am going to start enjoying version 4 a lot when it is full completed.

I feel much the same and I've got Platinum. L4 is a much easier interface to work with.

Have you watched the videos? They are very helpful.

Keep trying and ask for help as you need it.

Will do. Tomorrow. I've never added to a Wiki, so I"ll have to learn that I'm I'm getting too tired now. Besides which, you're at the party now and won't see this anyway until tomorrow - you better not look tonight !!
