I'm sure its been discussed somewhere, and I could probably find it after looking for 30 mins... but I'd rather ask all you smart people and get a quick answer....
TYTY!
I've already gone through and prioritized and "ranked" other resources... I thought it would then favor those, but it didn't work
I share your opinion about the information tool (it needs to be customizable)
Here is what I would like to see:
1. Ability to adjust the behavior of the information tool for use with interlinears so that no information would be displayed unless you click on a word.
2. Have headings for each category in the information tool that can be expanded or contracted similar to the Bible explorer tool.
3. The Program remembers whether you expand or keep contracted each heading. (this already happens in passage guides, explorer tool, but does not have this in the information tool (no headings yet:-) nor in the cited by tool.)
4. V4 remembers which headings you expand most often and stacks them in the appropriate order. (in all tools) or at least allows you to drag them like in passage guide
5. V4 only searches for the information in the expanded headings. (making it much quicker)
6. The ability to designate which resources are used for the information source material. (again making it much quicker)
These ideas would organize the information tool as well as speed it up. For example in my case I never want the English word definition when using an interlinear, I never use the cross-reference section, and I would prefer most of the time to just see the tense, mood, etc and the Louw Nida definition.
If I could set up the information tool this way, my results would be almost instant and I would be only seeing what I want (but could expand the other headings if I wanted to see the other info at any time.)
Jeremiah,
It should respect your prioritized resources. Note that Ranking (stars) is not the same as prioritization. Then it will search in order till it finds a match, as I understand it.
Thomas,
this is the second time someone has pointed this out...doing the priority thing doesn't seem to change it....it's an English resource first....
I have DBL prioritized and MW Dict. isn't even on my prioritized list.... odd
The problem is that it's looking up multiple data types. In this case, it's English word, then Strong's number, then TVM number. So it's respecting the preferred order for each data type, but the order of data types is probably out of our control.

Else open an interlinear and right click the word and select the lemma underneath it to search.

Greg,
I like your ideas, except #4 if your (in all tools) means that what you do in one carries over to others. I'm not sure I want my preferences in one tool applied to another.
I don't think you mean that. I think you mean in all tools, we should have the option to expand and contract to decide what info we want displayed by default. That I agree with.
Just wanting to clarify.
Chris

It does for me. When I go to the English word, it shows Collins, than BDAG (if being in the ESV or other Bible with the interlinear) and so on. These are my prioritized resources. You have to have priority list for each category of resources. Otherwise Logos does it it's way.
Sorry for not being clear Chris.
That is what I meant - that all tools would have the option to expand, contract and change the order of headings for that tool. I also think the copy and past (what copy and pasting exists:-) should be standardized as well - but that is off topic I guess.

Hey, Bohuslav, nice to see you!
I have re-arranged my priorities and moved my English dictionaries down below my H & G lexicons. Now it works better. So definitely priorities impacts this.
Thought this would help but no - the dictionary still comes up first - unlike Logos 3 where I could tell the hover popup the resources I wanted to see and the order. I do not need an english dictionary when I am working with the NASB95
This makes the difference for me between a tool I can use in sermon prep and one I won't

There is good news in the offing. Complaints and suggestions have been heard and the current beta allows some customization of the Information pane, including whether or not a definition shows up, and allowing us to choose whether the panel updates with on hover or on a click. Here is a shot of the customization panel. (Remember this is still in beta testing so could change or not even be included in the next release.)
Thanks Mark,
How about the ability to change what appears in the hover popup? (not the information pane) That would be number 1 by a mile on my want list.
What hover popup? The only one that appears is when the Interlinear pane is not showing and it does not show any definitions.

I know there have been suggestions/complaints about what does show and where it shows up (some dislike the fact it is pinned to the bottom of the pane). I have not heard of any plans to make this customizable.
Logos' approach to version 4 has been to reduce customization. However they have responded to a number of requests to restore features that existed in 3.0 (parallel resource associations, for example, now being tested in the 4.0b beta). I don't know if they would do anything about this or not. Best to post it in the Suggestions forum where it may get more eyes rather than being buried here.
