Visual Filter problem

Evening all.

I have a problem getting visual filters to work on my laptop, but they work perfectly on my desktop. Both machines have Logos 4 (4.5 SR1) installed on Windows 7 (64bit Pro on the desktop, Home Premium on the laptop)

Procedure followed to create the visual filter:

File
visual filter
select Morph
Key in name eg Verbs - aorist
Select "all morph text", "new Testament" "LGNTI" "Logos Greeek Morphology"
In the search box key in @VA (for Verbs, Aorist)
Click on the formatting box and select a format

The Visual filter seems to have been saved properly - if I click on the File menu, the filters are listed on the righthand side. However, when I click on the Filters icon on my laptop (with LGNTI open), only 4 items are displayed:

Bible Text only
Links to open panels
Show page numbers
Sympathetic highlighting

(none are ticked, the same as on my desktop)

On my desktop however, the created filter appears underneath these 4, and if the created filter is ticked, the appropriate verbs are highlighted in the text.

What is interesting is that the Visual Filters iIon appears as a set of coloured rings on my desktop but is not in colour on my laptop. Whether this is just coincidence or  asymptom of the problem., I don't know.

I have shut the open applicaiton and re-opened, no difference. Have recreated visual filter, no difference. Have closed Logos, no difference, Have restarted, no difference

Any help/suggestions/advice would be appreciated

Hi Colin - and welcome to the forums.

    Sounds strange[:)]

    A couple of questions:

    • Do you have any notes created which should show against LGNTI and - hence - should appear in the list you get when you click on the three rings? If so, do they appear? I am trying to understand whether there is an issue with associating content you have created with this resource on the laptop?
    • Is it possible that the resources are different on both systems? You can check the resource id by clicking the small encircled "i" at the top right of the resource. My version is dated 2010-07-21.

Apart from that, I'm struggling to explain this!

Wonder about opening visual filter on laptop, then click 3 circles to see if visual filter appears in list.  If not in list, wonder about copying LGNTI to a new tab, then click 3 circles (in new tab).

By the way, wiki Extended Tips for Visual Filters => Examples of visual filters has a screen shot showing 5 Logos Greek Morphology visual filters.

    Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately the visual filters do not appear in a new tab either.

I have now managed t resolve this issue - not by finding what caused the problem, but by doing what I did not want to do:  a complete reinstall of Logos followed by the whole reindexing process. I presume that there was some sort of corruption somewhere.

(I did find the extended tips handy, thanks)

    regards

    Colin

Rejoicing with you that visual filters are working. [8-|]

If had corruption, diagnostic log files often indicate what is corrupted.  Wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging
