Any recommendations for cultural and historical backgrounds

Does anyone here have recommendations for study of cultural and historical background information?

In other words, given the Platinum base, and that I have about $600 additional dollars, can you recommend collections of titles on this type that would augment the base?

Hi Richard,

I highly recommend purchasing IVP's Essential Reference Bundle.

I enjoy using background commentaries such as:

Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary: NT

Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary: OT

 

Some other books I'd recommend would be:

Merrill's Kingdom of Priests: A History of Old Testament Israel

Kaiser's A History of Israel
