Download and Install

I am installing L4 Platinum on my HP Tablet running Vista Premium. I did the download from my order and then started the installation. The little symbol in my task bar never comes up to give me a download status and no books are added. I waited 1.5 hours the first time and restarted. Does anyone have any ideas?

I downloaded from the order as directed in the email. Then it took quite awhile to do a .NET update or some sort. Then Logos opened and asked for my account information. After that I have not seen anything. The software is open and I can click on the library and such. It isn't frozen I just never get the icon and am not seeing any downloading happening. I pulled up my task manager and it shows Logos running.

Okay. Others may have better advice, but let's walk through a couple of other things:

If you click the ? on the top right (help) and click the About Logos, what version and Build does it say you have?

What base package do you have?

Did you use the same email and password that you use to log into www.logos.com?

It says "Logos Bible Software 4 SR-6 (4.0.3.2985)"

I purchased the Platinum package. I just looked at my order and at the top it says

"Your Libronix Customer ID is needed to unlock your order. "

This is my first time using Logos so I don't have anything on my computer like it is telling me to go to.

When the program opens the first time, it should ask you for your login details for Logos.com, ie your email address ("customer id") and password. If this didn't happen automatically; try closing the program as you open it again, hold down control until the login screen comes up.

Did you get an email from Logos with a customer ID?

Can you log on to www.logos.com?

I think this is the issue. Once we can get your account linked the "HUGE" download will start. I have Platinum and a few other things and it will be big. BUT worth it. Lots of good resources and a powerful tool -- Okay, enough sales. Let's get your ID.

In the command box, type Update now... Give it about 15 minutes and see if the blue task tray download icon comes up.

EDIT: Chris, I misread that too - It looks like that's on the purchase order, rather the program saying that [:)]

I created my account awhile back when I subscribed to Preaching and Bible Study. The email address and password that I used then allow me access my account where I placed today's order from.

I did the Update now as directed. The curved arrows beside the Layouts tab spun for just a second and then quit. Thank you guys for working with me. I have wanted to get Logos for quite awhile and finally did it today and am quite excited to try it out.

If Update Now doesn't work - 15 minutes remember - try putting Update Resources in the command bar - solution of last resort.

You should get a "updating now" message on the top right by "Layouts" when you do Update Now and if you do Update Resources

Should I go ahead and do the Update Resources or wait? I am looking at my Task Manager and the Logos4.exe keeps moving on the Memory area so it looks like it is doing something but I am not getting the icon? Thoughts? Update Resources or go to bed and wait until tomorrow?

Give it a shot. You should see "Checking for updates" for quite a while. And then after another pause (could be quite a while) the icon in the task bar and indication of downloading.

Try rebooting your computer and then do Update Resources again.

Oh, yeah, do you have a firewall that could be blocking this call to Logos?

Could also be a bad .NET install. You can try removing it from Control Panel and then going to Microsoft Update and getting a fresh install.

No you don't you can just go with Logos 4.

I'm also wondering with all the Logos people at the party tonight if your account has been "activated/setup"

Go to www.logos.com, login, and go to My Account and check your order history. It should show your purchase. If not, it must take some person to intervene and they may all be on the Boat now.

I'm wildly speculating now, but it is something else to occupy your time with before I say, "Call Customer Service tomorrow." [:)]

The account shows the order fine. I got the email from them telling me I was good to go with these nice step by step instructions. I am turning off the computer that I am doing the installing it on. Have not had any updates all day and now while turning it off I have 22 Windows updates. On 17 of 22 right now.

Thank you for your help. I spent forever doing more updates. Everytime the updates were done more updates showed up. (I really don't use this PC much...I am a Mac guy) finally I went to bed. I called support this morning and they had to remove the Libronix hold since I did not have an ID. I appreciate your willingness to help.
