PB's - what's behind this-?

Never seen this: (did a new PB on the Laptop and then had it open with a few resources for checking. I sync'd and got out the Netbook and started L4. The layout loaded but I got an error for the PB-?):

the books aren't physically synced at present, easiest way is to copy source and recompile it on both machines, sync will happen we are told - just not yet

It is fairly well known that other PBBs don't sync, so I don't think they needed a thread. If it isn't compiled on a machine it won't show up in the library, so using a saved layout is the only way to get the error message I believe.

Hhhhhmmmm.....Yes. It was from a saved layout.....

I been thinking about what you said Dominic, and I don't think I like that idea. Mainly, because I keep the docx files seperate from the L4 files, this would mean that a folder would need to be created - from HQ themselves - and incorporated into the L4 file system. This would mean that every sync would transfer them to the 'cloud' and then to every device, mobile and non-mobile, would have access to them. Whereas, I do not want them on every device I use L4 on.
I just checked and noticed that all the PB's I have in L4, sync'd to the netbook now show this message, thats too many files to keep track of.......also, this means that if I want to view them on the netbook I have to now have another place where they are located......./?

Where you keep the .docx file doesn't matter. The compiled PB is what is accessed by L4 and what will eventually be sync'ed is some way.

Really...!
thats interesting because when I went to "edit" the just created PB on the netbook, it told me that It could not fine the "*.docx" file that was used to create the PB. Pretty much means that the docx files needs to be on the device in order to read it.......currently.
Now how they integrate it in the future, well, has yet to be seen....I agree.
****************
To test what I just did I moved the docx file from where it was stored. opend L4 and went to view the PB, it told me by way of the edit, that it could not find the file......

Now this is interesting:
I deleted the docx file, on both machines, deleted the PB from both machines, did a sync one after the other....BUT, the pb still exits in my library under monograph. The sad part is, is that the text is all messed up......so I guess I got some calls to make....
Thanks for the help........

I could be wrong but it is my understanding the PBBs will sync without this error in the future. You might say we are still in a beta mode on the sync part. I also don't think we will need the .docx files on the local machine when HQ is done with the PBB finese job.

Just hide the PB (=drag it from the library to the "Hidden Books" section of System Preferences), this will delete it.
Have joy in the Lord!
