Q: searching "title" in basic search?

I am trying to search the Article Titles in Bibliotheca Sacra

I was able to successfully search authors using - author:author

using - title: - does not produce a search restricted just to article titles.

Any suggestions?

Open that resource and click on the "I" and it will tell you what is searchable and what is not.

For example; this is the info for Lakes Apostolic Fathers in Greek:

Surface text and footnotes.

In L4 this becomes difficult because of the changes to topic searching. In fact, I do not believe you are able to search the titles of Journals in L4.

Robert - that is a great help! I did not think to look there for the search fields.

Philip - that is a bit disappointing. It seems to me one of the great values of the electronic editions... especially one that is "indexed" is that you would gain the ability to search titles in the journals. For the biblical references the "cited by" works very well... so it does not seem that it would be hard to include the ability to search titles (even sub-titles).

I know "in-house" searching is better, but if it would be a help to you I have an excel file I could send you that is quite good at searching the headings. You can filter headings by Heading level, name, book of the bible, and author. It will show you the journal's TOC and provide a hyperlink to the L4 article. I created it because I found that not every title in the Journals was tagged and some good articles were missing when I searched for them. I only have 1-10 completed. If you would like it let me know.

Thanks for the offer... I have another bible software engine that searches the titles and I can utilize that.

I am disappointed not to hear from Logos on this. In my mind the ability to search the titles, headings and even sub-heads is the REAL value of the electronic journals.

Without this... it is not much use to search terms that may or may not be related to the point of the article.

Logos, please advise on if this functionality is going to exist. I know it is possible in other bible software engines and so the possibility is there. I am hoping the L4 architecture is not prohibitive here.

I replied to this in the Topic Browser thread as well, but no, this is not a limitation of our architecture, and i'm optimistic that we will offer more functionality here.

Thank you very much! L4 is a great design and I feel that in just a couple of weeks I have benefited from it greatly. It thinks more like I do... I am grateful for that.
