Correct Pronunciation

Hi,

I have recently been studying on the Holy Spirit using my Logos. I hope that you will not think this a stupid question.

Could someone tell me the correct way to pronounce the word:

Socinians, as in those following the non trinitarian theology of Faustus Socinus.

Is it correctly pronounced:  - Sock-in-ians  or  Sos-in-ians or Sozz-in-ians, or indeed perhaps another way.

My apologies for taking up your time with a question that is perhaps silly, but would hope that there might be a brother or sister out there who might be able to advise me.

I've always heard it pronounced "so-SIN-ee-ans".

According to Merriam-Webster 11th ed. in Logos:

So•cin•i•an \sə-ˈsi-nē-ən, sō-\ 

(the apostrophe before a syllable means that's the syllable where the emphasis is, and the upside-down e is a schwa or barely pronounced vowel as in the first and last syllables of "pajamas"); the e with a horizontal line over it is a long e (as in "me") and the o with a horizontal line over it is a long o (as in "no"); the plain i with no line over it is a short i (as in "in"). This dictionary is saying the first option is to pronounce it sə-ˈsi-nē-ən; and second choice is sō-ˈsi-nē-ən
