Biblical Theology - The Promise-Plan of God?

As if I have not spent enough on March Madness ...

I am interested in studying 'Biblical Theology'. What are good books on this topic? Is Kaiser's Promise-Plan of God among the top books in this area in your opinions? How does it rank with other titles available?

Friends of mine who have taken classes from Dr. Kaiser recommend Promise-Plan of God highly. Other good ones might include Thielmann (book by book) on the NT or Schreiner (themes) in the NT (Schreiner may not be in Logos and/or available apart from a bundle yet). Also good is Waltke's OT Theology - but that is thematic rather than by book, and several reviews I've read say he spends little time on the poetry/prophets compared to the other books. I picked it up regardless but haven't had a chance to look through it. I've heard House is also good on the OT (goes book by book, like Thielmann).

The thing with Biblical Theology is different scholars have different "pet" topics. Kaiser sees everything through the lens of "promise" Others will see things through the lens of "kingdom" or "rest" or, well you get the idea. Studying Biblical Theology is a major undertaking requiring you to read widely. I would not say any topics or scholars are bad, except maybe some liberals who may not even be believers but among the conservatives Kaiser is quite well respected and I would add his book to my library if I didn't already have it, which I do.

Thanks for your input. I read through quite a bit of the preview and have decided to get it. I like that it speaks to both NT and OT together and more or less book by book.
