More index questions

I have a couple of questions about indexing my library.
1) Does my computer have to be hooked up to the internet in order to index.
2) If I stop it will it start where I left off or start all over again?

I tried to find answers in the forums but there are so many to read.

1. No.

2. No, it will start over. (But if you 'sleep' or 'hybernate' your computer it will pick up where it left off.)

Yes, the search function on these forums is really, really bad.
