Is it possible to install L4 on this computer?
Celeron is not a good start, bu:
It has 1 meg of memory
Anything is possible but the system requirements are listed here:
http://www.logos.com/support/techfaq#sysreqs
Doesn't look too good for a Celeron, though some have installed L4 on systems that don't quite meet the system requirements and it still runs. The biggest problem would be that, if you have a Celeron you are talking about a laptop. If you have a laptop you probably have an integegrated (not dedicated) video display. Running L4 on a system with a slower CPU with integrated video and low RAM has often (though not always) been problematic.
Dave H. asked for more system spec's. If you look at the system requirements on the page above, and you can tell us how far you fall short of those, we may be able to tell you how L4 may perform on your system. But you should also know that Logos is still working on optimizing some components of the program. So whatever we say now could be overridden by what Logos releases tomorrow.
The Laptop has 30 gigs of space on it. It has a new installation of XP. It is possible to have 2 megs of memory on it. The system is about 3 to 4 years old.
It is possible to have 2 megs of memory on it.
Assuming you mean 2MB (megabytes) and not 2GB (gigabytes) of RAM, there's no way you're going to enjoy L4 on your computer, as the minimum requirement is 1GB of RAM (a gigabyte is 1000 megabytes -- well 1024 meg's to be precise). One user reports using L4 on a system with 512 MB of RAM. So if you just misrepresented your actual spec's the RAM issue will not prohibit you from running L4.
Your hard drive space is adequate and XP will run L4 (though the system requirements specify XP SP3).
You could try it out with the free L4 engine, but I'd have to go looking for the URL for that again.
I meant 2 gigs.of memory.
I was hoping it was 2 gigs of RAM, way better than 2MB. [:D]
Where do I get the free engine to try it?
Found this URL, hope it works for you (copy and paste into your browser).
Note that L4 is internet heavy. A broadband connection is recommended.

Thanks Richard
I will let everyone know whether it works.
Everyone? Wow. That could take a while. [;)]
Anyway, hope it does work for you. If it does, take a look at your crossgrade (e.g., go from Libronix Silver to Logos4 Silver) and upgrade (e.g., go from Libronix Silver to Logos4 Gold) options from the logos website. There are some amazing deals right now, and L4 replaces some L3 add-ins with resources, so you won't have the same functionality in L4 as you had in L3 without at least a crossgrade.
Everyone includes all the "lurkers".[:-*]

If that were the case, he wouldn't be able to be using XP since it requires something like 50x that right out of the gate.
Steve,
to encourage you, it does work. I have L4 running on an almost 7 year old machine with 1GB of ram (maxed out) and the RC of Windows 7 (it'll go back to XP when the RC expires). If you keep only use Windows classic theme and turn off all window animations, you should get a useable product. Indexing took me about 25 hours total, but the program does work and I have enjoyed it (though I've mostly used my significantly newer computer most of the time).
Definitely upgrade to 2GB -- I wish I could do that on my old machine.
Mike
Just wanted to let everyone know that I was successful in my install of L4 on my laptop. ( Dell Inspiron 1150 Celron CPU 2.40 GHZ. It has 2 Gigs of Memory). The initial indexing completed. It then indicated that it was preparing the library. It started back up indexing after the prepartion of the library was complete. It went through three stages prior to starting indexing up again. I have had the software up on the system and it works. It is a little slow but that is to be expected with the indexing going on
Hopefully after tonight the indexing will be complete.
Steve
