Why is it opening there?!?

I'm using Logos Bible Software for Apple...4.5a SR-1 (4.51.0.2057)

I would like to dedicate one window for commentaries, one for Bibles, One for monographs...etc so that when I open a new resource, I know exactly where it will open. Yet there doesn't seem to be anyway to do that. It seems as if Logos is using some random algorithm to determine which window it will place a newly opened resource in.

It's very frustrating! It's like roulette for resources. With all the customization possible, it must be possible to dedicate a window to a certain resource type...right? Please tell me it can be done?

Yes it can. You need to drag the tab of the miss placed book to the window where you want it. This is one extra step but it works easily and quickly.

Sorry but there isn't any option to do what you are looking for - many others have asked for this level of control.

Some people get round this by dragging the resource from the library window to the pane in which they want to access it. Not a perfect solution but might be helpful.

One option is arranging panels with desired resources, then click "+" next to a tab to open a new tab with the same kind of resource. For bibles (and commentaries), the right hand side shows bibles (commentaries) in your library priority order, which have verse within range of verses in that resource.

Yeah, most of us just get into the habit of doing the drag and drop routine for opening resources in the window we want them in. You can type the first few letters of the resource name (or the abbreviated title) into the command bar and then drag from the dropdown menu that shows up below it:
