Layout Does its Own Thing

If you have more resources open than the panes in the "pre-set" 3 vertical layout it won't give you what you ask for. Other presets seem to work.

How do you want Logos to determine which panels to merge? If you drop and drag tabs to create 3 panes it seems to understand; I'm not sure I want the program to determine what merges with what.

I really don't care where it puts things. I can move them later if I want. I'd just like it to arrange them in the 3 panes it says it will. It does work for 4 panes or two on one side and one on the other. It is just with the 3 vertical it doesn't work for me.

It already has arbitrarilty assigned them to the 2 panels when I just click open in the library. Let it arbitrarily continue to assign them. I know there are other threads asking for control and grouping and moving from one set up to another with control -- I'm just reporting what I think is a bug that it doesn't even go to the 3 vertical panels, but creates more.

I'm not getting the same behavior as you are ... I often get more windows than the layout - current or desired. It appears that it is dependent upon what pane is in focus or, perhaps, the contents of the panes I don't seem to have my request effect the right most column.

I agree that we need a description of what we are to expect so we can verify that's what we get.

There's a subtlety to the layouts that might be masked by their visual representation. The first four have a specified number of tiles (1, 2, 3, and 4), but the last two are "horizontal" and "vertical". I'm not speaking authoritatively here, but i believe the last one isn't really "3 columns", it's "primarily columns", which may not be possible given the number of tabs that are open. There are many more possible layouts that we could practically specify.

I had 5 tabs open, and the vertical layout gave me this:

Moving the bottom tab up then left with me only vertical tiles (4 of them): merging one orphaned tab then left 3 columns (but one panel was 50% and the other two 25% each).

Thanks for that clarification. It is subtle. Too subtle from my perspective. But once you know . . .

I'm more concerned for others. I'm not sure how to make it more obvious, but even saying vertical, then the big horizontal panel. Maybe, "One resource per panel up to a max of ??(8?)" then it merges - Too late to think.

How about a hover pop up that explains this?

This is pretty confusing...but thanks for clarifying...
