Attempting to add a book the program only recognizes files with *.docx format all my word docs use the format *.doc only. How do I reconcile this so the program sees my files. Thank you for your response

Robert,
Welcome to the Logos Forums.
The Personal Books compiler in Logos 4 only will compile .docx files. If you have Word 2007 or 2010 you can turn your .doc files into .docx files. I think you also can create a .docx file by downloading LibreOffice, a free MS Office alternative.
Welcome [:D]
Curious about version of Word ? Word 2007 and 2010 include ability to save as *.docx while Microsoft has a compatibility pack for older Word versions (on windows) => http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3 that adds ability to open, edit, and save *.docx files.
LibreOffice is free => http://www.libreoffice.org/ that can open *.doc file(s), then save as *.docx file(s).

I use Office 2003 and it only creates a .doc file. I had to install an update to it to save in an Office 2007 .docx file. Check the Microsoft Office website.
The docx format came out with ’07, this was a force to buy it. But ’07 and ’10 will read down to doc’s from ’97, or you can save as doc from 07 and 10, still allowing to send to someone who only have ’03.
By the non-usage of a word processor within L4, there is no need to keep up, the notes etc. can be exported to most formats.
