I just got Logos 4 alpha 3 and it keeps indexing everytime I restart the program it does an hour of indexing. It makes my computer run super slow. If you can make that stop that would be great.
Thanks
Hi Dan,
The program has to index the books, that is part of what it does to build a search database. You can make it stop, but then the program will never work.
I understand that it needs to index but does it have to index going the 8th now?
Is that normal.
8 times in a six hour period?
Just to clarify our terminology.
Indexing is shown on the little blue Logos icon. It runs independently of L4. You should be able to close the program and start it and even crash the Alpha without impacting the indexing in any way. So even when L4 is closed, the little blue icon should stay in the menu bar and run.
And yes, it does slow up the system because indexing is not yet optimized for the mac. It is normal, but will be improved as the program progresses.
So, with that bit of info, here is my question.
When you say it "keeps indexing every time you restart the program" do you mean you are stopping the indexing process itself and closing L4? I ask because indexing should not stop when you close L4.
Every time I restart my computer.
Every time I start the program.
Every time it decides it wants to it indexes my library.
We are now going on the 10 time.
Is that normal to you? this program shouldnt have to index 10 times.
I never stopped it. It just does it on its own.
Hi Dan, that does not sound like normal behavior. I would definitely report it as a bug by posting your logs and letting the tech folks sort it out.
