Classic Commentary Series Info

I've been enjoying having the completed Classic Commentaries collections start rolling in as Logos finishes production.

I'm surprised that they're coming in with blank "Series" attribute. It's a collection purchase, but then the library treats them as individual resources. I'm aware that I could make my own collection(s), and I will, but would it be worth having the series/collection officially recognized in the Logos resource database? I feel like it would be helpful for me.

It is likely due to the fact that these collections are "collections" rather than true "series"...in other words, they aren't a series in the sense that NICOT/NICNT, WBC, EEC, etc, etc are "series"

I agree, in the traditional sense. However, they seem to be kind of a new type of series, a Logos-defined series, if I may put it that way.

Perhaps Logos would be we willing to add another column in the database: a "purchased collection" field that shows if you bought a particular title as a part of a collection (e.g. A.W. Tozer works) even if they all stand alone within the program. Something like that would be tremendously helpful to staying organized.

Numerous suggestions have been made regarding the library and its fields (I like the idea of a big "my comments/book review..." field), but in the meantime we can use tags to build our own fields, improve on subjects etc.

Wait a minute here! Are you saying you will make these collections into series? If so, I strongly object. Making a series out of a random collection of books means that if that random collection happens to include a real series of, say, 4 volumes, that real series can not be tagged as a series in the series column, can not be sorted or filtered by series, does not turn up as a series in the search dropdown, and can not be prioritized as a series. You'd have to either prioritize the whole collection, or drag all 4 volumes separately. No thanks. If you want to give us a new column for bought collections, that's fine with me, but please reserve the series column for real series.

Sorry, please disregard my last answer. We use the series field for books that are published originally within a series.

Seeing as we could configure a Classic Commentaries set in any number of permutations, the titles within were not originally published together.

Thank you! Now I just need to do what I've been planning to do for almost a year: go to the Metadata page and ask that you correct the AYBRL, which, for some reason, you have tagged as a series, though it's just a random collection, and happens to have no less than 3 real series within it, none of which I can currently prioritize as a series (which is why I'm touchy on this subject [:)]).
