Why all the big update downloads?

I bought the minimal crossgrade from Libronix to Logos 4 at the start of this year, and its all working fine. Except that I often get notifications that there are upgrade files being downloaded, and they are always so big. E.g. at the moment my computer is downloading at 84 MByte upgrade.

I haven't bought any new resources in the last few months. Why are the upgrade files so big?

I thought you might be worried about 500 MB + ..

The 84 MB might be resource updates and/or the upgrade to v4.5b. Just wait and you can check what it wants you to do.

Logos released 4.5b (4.52.0.2176) earlier today so 84 MByte download is a stable Logos 4 program update.

This would most likely be due to resources being updated. Logos is constantly going through cycles of fixing typos and missing links in old resources you already own. For example, I believe recently they've been working on some of the commentary series. If you turn on the "Updated resources" checkbox on the Customize menu on your Home Page, you'll be able to see what resources have been updated recently.

As Dave and KS4J mentioned, 4.5b was released today, so that probably accounts for most of your megabytes.

EDIT: Incidentally, if you don't want to get updates as often, you can go into Tools > Program Settings, and change Automatically Download Updates to No. Then you will be notified when there is a new release or updated resources, but you won't have to take them until you want them, i.e., until you don't mind waiting for the download.

David ... Rosie's right ... turn off the updating in your Logos settings and live happily ever after.

I didn't know there'd been any downloads or even '4.5b' and my world is just great.

Now to see what this '4.5b' is all about.

Which leads to another point for anyone passing through ... we just got rid of our smart phones in favor of pay-as-you-go phones plus a hotspot for our PCs. We certainly don't want Logos4 chewing up our monthly allocation. So by only turning it on when on regular WIFI, we keep all under control.

And if you're in a similar situation of monthly limits on one of your sources, all your other software happily downloads with wild abandon; each needs training.
