Hi Everyone,
I am new to Logos 4 (Mac), so my apologies for sounding rather naive.
Would someone be kind to tell me whether I can add my sermon library within Logos 4?
Thank you
Benjamin
What do you mean "add" your "sermon library?"
L3 had a "sermon builder" add on. L4 does not have this feature (yet). On the other hand, L4 has a "personal book builder," which allows you to add user created content. You must create these books by compiling .docx files in the personal book builder. For this, you will need a program capable of saving .docx files, such as Word or the free Libre Office.
This are sermons which I already have on file (created through Word). I was just wondering whether I could use the 'Notes' facility and add the sermons into the system.

Welcome [:D]
Wiki has => Getting Started with Logos that has many Tips and link, including:
Tip: Becoming proficient with Logos 4 features and capabilities takes months of use – practice and perseverance produces powerful results.
Tip: PC control key often becomes command key on Mac.
Thankful for many friendly discussions about using Logos Bible Software: have learned a lot plus have a lot to learn.
Wiki has => Personal Books and => User Contributed Personal Books
Logos has plans for a Personal Book online store.
Keep Smiling [:)]
Personal Books and Notes are searchable in Logos 4, including search for Bible passage(s). Notes can have visual indicators in Bibles and Commentaries for Notes created by reference (using Bible Verse).
Wiki has => Notes (ver 4.5 & up)
Observation: all highlighting of selected text are Notes in Logos 4.5 however Notes created by selecting text only appear in the one resource.
Thank you for your reply.
I think, I may have confused you, for which I am sorry.
I wasn't meaning to have my sermon library added to the Logos 4 resources. Rather, I meant to have my sermons to be part of my own copy of Logos 4, under a sermon Folder or Note folder, which can be added to my Logo 4 library. Does that make sense?
I'm afraid my sermons are not good enough for anyone to wish to read them, never mind preaching them!!
Thank you once again,
Blessings to you all[:)]
Hi Benjamin,
You have several options.
My apologies for not explaining Logos 4 more clearly.
Logos 4 Favorites can have folders with links (shortcuts) to Logos resources, including personal books, and Note files along with links that open in other programs (e.g. Safari, Word). Logos 4 does not index content for links to other programs so cannot search them.
Logos 4 currently uses resource files, which have been formatted for use by the program. Personal Books are your docx files that have been built into Logos 4 resources on your Mac. In the Library, you can filter the list of resources to show your personal books by using:
edition:User
Logos resources have edition:Logos while Vyrso eBooks have edition:eBook
By the way, Logos has monthly free book promotions at http://www.logos.com and http://vyrso.com Since Thanksgiving of 2011, Logos has offered 118 free Vyrso eBook's that can be added to your Logos library, a number of freebies were available for one day so personally have learned to check http://vyrso.com daily.
Currently Logos does not sync Personal Books between your devices, which is a planned future feature along with a Personal Book online store.
Logos is planning a Logos 4 replacement (enhancement) for sermon file add-on. Bob Pritchett (CEO) replied on 28 Dec 2011 => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/42728/318291.aspx#318291 about Logos 4 personal books being part of the sermon file add-on replacement.
Thread => What is more useful in Libronix 3.0g ? (especially compared to Logos 4.5a) has a follow-up reply by Bob Pritchett (CEO) on 6 Mar 2012 => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/46104/346381.aspx#346381 that includes:
Sermon File (this was on the "missing features" list) We were planning on replacing this with something different, but have been convinced otherwise. We are presently re-specifying the feature for inclusion in the 4.x time frame.

Thread => PB Template - Sermon(s) has a docx example for sermons.
Logos stores Notes within the program using "file" names for grouping and ordering. Wiki Logos 4 Mac includes:
All "files" appear under the File menu. Caveat: Logos 4 stores your "files" within tables in SQLite database files.
Could build some sermon files as personal books (may need conversion to docx). Also could open some sermons in Word so can copy text and paste into Notes. Caveat: practically an individual note within a file does have a visual display limit so suspect a sermon will need to be split up into several note entries. In contrast, a personal book could build a sermon (or series of sermons) as one resource. If chose to create personal books, one option for notes is adding a link to your personal book.
One advantage of building a series of sermons as one resource in Logos 4 is the ability to search that resource (sermon series) for various illustrations used.
[I] Sermon docx files could include date and footnote(s) for illustrations so could search resource for footnote text to find illustrations that have been used. The footnotes could have your initials and date preached (initials would be different than other words so easy to search). Logos 4 search results would show footnote # so mouse could hover on number to show date(s) preached along with showing snippet of illustration.
Logos 4 can search My Content, which includes all Note files (no option to search individual Note files).
Thank you for your help. Look forward to hear the final outcome.
