BUG: PBB is loosing its text

I am in the process of moving all of my 'data' from the various programs to L4. This PBB is loosing the text at chapter 30, and I cannot figure out why. The tables are there. The TOC has the text for the chapter headings.

Tom - Is this being built from a single .docx file?

Without being able to work with the .docx file, I can't be too much help. Here is what I would try:

Create a duplicate document and delete most everything above the trouble spot.
Build a new personal book with the modified file
If problems persist, duplicate the new file again and split it in half.
try building a new personal book with each half.

By using the process of elimination, I have found several bugs or trouble spots in the past.

Hi Alabama24,

Yes, this is a single .docx file. I will try your troubleshooting steps. Still, I believe that this is a L4 problem because another program does not have a problem with this .docx file, and L4 can still read the headings and the tables. L4 is the only program that does not display the text.

Therefore, I believe that Logos needs to add this to their very long list of bugs in L4.

FYI... I just noticed that I posted the same pict. twice yesterday. When I get back home I will post the pict. for the docx file.

Wondering if docx formatting needs to be cleared then redone for vocabulary table in lesson 31 ?

Strange, strange, strange.

I did what you suggested, I received some very strange results.

Because it appeared that the problem was happening in lesson 31, I divided the book into part a and part b. Part a went from the beginning of the book to lesson 30, and part b went from lesson 30 to the end (part a and part b both had lesson 30). I was expecting the issue would show up in part b. It did not; part b was perfect. Part a was now showing the problem after lesson 29.

So I subdivided part a into parts a1 and a2. Part a1 went from the beginning of the book to lesson 15, and part a2 went from lesson 15 to lesson 30. I was expecting the issue to now show in part a2, and it did - kind of. All of the text was being displayed, but I had extra blank text at the beginning of part a2 (it would be the location of lesson 14 if I had included that part). Part a1 also showed all of the text, and it also displayed extra blank text. Part a1's extra blank text was at the end of it (at the location of lesson 16 if I would have included that part of the book). For a recap, bot sub-parts displayed all of the text like I wanted it, but both of them had extra blank lines).

So I decided to take another subsection of part a, and call it part a1.5 because it had lessons 10 through 20. This also displayed all of the text perfectly, and it too had the extra blank lines. What was unique about this subsection is that it had blank lines at the beginning and at the end of the book.

It is very hard to troubleshoot what is wrong when the target keeps moving.

I think these differences are coming from different editions. I just check what I am using as my source, and my PB matches it. Both my source and PB are different than your screenshot. The source that I am using doesn't say anything about revised and expanded.

This issue has to do with Word's built-in revision control. The Personal Books tool translates the currently accepted version of the document, and any changes pending review are ignored. The case for resolving that issue is still active, and we'll be adding some extra logging to the Personal Book logs to warn of this issue.

In the meantime, you should be able to resolve the issue for this document by going to the Review tab in Word and clicking the arrow next to 'Accept'. Select 'Accept All Changes in Document', then save the document changes and recompile the Personal Book.
