Bruce Longenecker's fiction, The Lost Letters of Pergamum (Baker, 2003) is available in Vyrso, and is worth a read if you have any interest in studying the gospels within the Roman Empire.
Antipas is a Roman official in Pergamum who loves books. He exchanges letters with Luke (author of the 3rd gospel). As he engages with what early Christianity meant in his honour/shame culture, it turns his life upside down.
Longenecker's historical fiction is about the most accessible way I have ever found of engaging with Luke's gospel in the setting of the Roman Empire. For example, Antipas wonders about Jesus' teaching about the 'empire of God.'
Easy reading, yet thought-provoking and insightful. A gem.
