No highlights on the iPhone

Now I have had 2.1.3 installed for a week. The first days there was no sync at all but then reading plans and favourites get synced. Some of my notefiles is downloaded to the IPhone and the note icons shows up in the text but non of my highlights. If I create a new notefile on the desktop it is not synced to the iPhone. I think my downloaded note files is synced in previous versions of the app.

I can create an highlight on the iPhone and after a while it shows up on the desktop but non of my higlights from the desktop is viewable on the iPhone. In the "View Settings" I have set "Notes and Highlights" to "On". (This is how it worked in 2.0.2 as well).

Is the sync engine working to the rest of you?

    It is working fine to me - using an iPad as opposed to an iPhone.

    Do you have Vyrso installed and do the highlights show up on there?

    My experience concurs with Graham. Unequivocally, it is working great for me and has for some time (I am on beta, but currently you are "caught up"). The only "asterisk" I would add is that the mobile app needs to be shut down fully and restarted to ensure a sync FROM L4. When you add a note or highlight on the mobile app, it syncs right a way. The "return" sync, however, happens best (or only) when the app is first started. In other words, you may need to shut the app completely off by using the multitask bar in iOS.

    Using this method, I can create a new highlight or note on either device and have it show up within a minute on the other device (i.e. "going both ways").

    Do you have Vyrso installed and do the highlights show up on there?

    I have Vyrso and Faithlife installed but I no highlights. I still think the sync enginge is bad in some way. After some days I get my reading plans downloaded to my iPhone (Logos and Faithlife apps) but they are not up to date with the desktop (Win 7).

    I stop the apps from the multitask bar every day and have restarted my iPhone several times but I still have the same issue.

    On the desktop I have 73 note files. In the iOS Logos app I have 56 note files, in Vyrso I have 47 and in Fatihlife I have 48 notefiles. When I had trouble with iOS 2.1.3 I deleted a big note file (Geneva notes) on the desktop but more than a week later it still remains in the Logos iOS app.

    There is time zone issues with Logos servers regarding daily readings. Is it possible that the sync enginge suffers with time zone troubles as well?

    Did you tell us in another thread how large your note files are? The file is called notes.db. I wouldn't know where to tell you to look on PC.

    (On Mac, the path is Library > Application Support > Logos4 > Documents > [random] > Documents > Notes)

    Have you been watching the sync icon when you open the app (after its been closed from multitask bar)? Is it continuously spinning? Also, have you been checking the app file size? You can do this in iOS Settings > General > Usage. Write down the file size, and see if it is growing. (Don't download or update any new resources!)

    My notes.db is 331 708 kB.

Some days later I get my reading plans dowmloaded and the sync was finished. Now the sync icon is spinning continously again and my reading plans are not getting synced any more.

    GULP! I am not good at math, and my Mac does the conversions for me… Is that really 331 MB? You have the largest note file of any user I know. Congrats! [:)]

    This tells me that your app is still downloading. I think when you check out the file size thing I mentioned before, you will find that Logos is miraculously growing. I think that your problems are a good ole fashioned traffic jam.

    Hi Ebbe,

    I still have the problem with 2.1.6 as well as the newest Vyrso and Faithlife software for iOS. Have the recent updates fixed your issues?

    For large notefiles to sync takes some time. You may want to leave Logos running on your iPhone while connected to Wifi for a few hours and see if it works then.

    I have no problem with my notes or highlights on iPhone or iPad.

    If they don't appear after leaving it connected to the internet for quite some time, hopefully one of the developers will be able to jump in and do some more specific troubleshooting.

    I have waited for several days having Vyrso connected on the Internet for hours. But no syncing. Here are more details:

    It looks to me that there are only very few users who have this problem so I doubt that we are at the top of Logos' priority list.

    I watched this between every crash and the size of the iOs app was growing after one or two crashes and was then shrinking after some crashes but the spinning was never finished.

    I then did two things:

    1. I investigated my notefiles and find a corrupt one. It had a dozens of duplicated entrys in it. This one was imported from L3 during the Beta testing period of L4. I took a screendump (but I can't find it at the moment) and then deleted it.

    2. On the iPhone I had som duplicated files. For example "Highlighter Pens" and "Highlighter Pens (2)":

    I decided to clean this up. I had created a notefile for my reading of Pannenbergs Systematic Theology which was duplicated as well ("Pannenberg ST" and "Pannenberg ST (2)"). When I had deleted the duplicate file "Pannenberg ST(2)" there showed up an until then "hidden" notefile with the same name on my iPhone. I have two notefiles with identical names:

    When I had deleted the duplicated Panneberg ST file from the iPhone as well as the corrupt notefile with dozens of duplicated entrys in it then everything worked as a charm.

    I think you express yourself quite well in English. Certainly better than I would in any other language and better than most Americans with whom I interact on a daily  basis. ;)

    Thanks, for your great description that solved your highlighting issues. Unfortunately, I don't have any issues with duplicate notes files. My highlighting still does not sync.

    Now I found the screen dump from my corrupt notefile. When I have this troubles I check every notefile and found this one on my laptop:

    This is only a part of the file but all of it was like this. Is it possible you have an bad note file looking like this?

    Oh, now I know what you mean: the duplicate entries. But I doubt that this was the source of the problem. I believe I removed all duplicate entries using the "remove duplicates" (?) command.
