iPad functionality - lots of resources on device - but not available via study tools w/o internet co
I am a new iPad owner (wi-fi only) - and so new to the world of Logos away from my Mac. I was under the impression that if I downloaded to my device the resources I use most often - that I would be able to use the "study tools" available in Logos on my iPad - no matter where I was. This doesn't seem to be the case. I downloaded several translations for text comparison, a couple of commentaries, and Strong's Enhanced Lexicon. I have plenty of room to download any others. All of these resources are prioritized on my Mac.
At church today, I thought I could do a quick word look up - uh, no. I only got an Oxford dictionary definition. So then I tried the Bible Word Study - needed an internet connection - same for passage guide and even text comparison. All the necessary resources are on my device.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Dianne

The resources can be read, but text comparison, Bible word study, and Passage Guide require Internet connection. You can read your books, highlight, take notes and search offline for downloaded books.

Yes, the internet connection. Due to the fact that an iPad is comparably weak in terms of computing power, the Logos app will support some basic features in offline mode, while the more processing-heavy things (like Bible Word Study & Passage Guide) will work on a Logos server: your iPad app sends a request to Logos and they return the result, which is only displayed for you.
Hope this helps,
Mick

I'm sorry but this is utterly ridiculous - to require an Internet connection to search books that one has downloaded.
I came to Logos as an iPad user. I have only a small collection of resources, but it has quickly become my goto app for Bible study. But then I tried to do a passage study without an Internet connection. You have crippled the app by not allowing this feature without a connection! Do you think one always will have an Internet connection when wanting to study with Logos?
I had seriously begun considering spending the hundreds of $$ to build a decent library with Logos, but I refuse to do so for crippleware!0 -

Welcome [:D]
As a Logos user, am looking forward to many more iOS app improvements. Personally dreaming about visual filter highlighting using Morph Search on an iPad; have no idea when (nor which model of iPad will be needed).
An ultrabook (e.g. MacBook Air) is a mobile alternative for an iPad, which can run Logos 4 that has many more features than the Logos iOS app. Also, Logos 4 can be used in offline mode for Bible Word Study, Passage Guides (sans 4 internet sections), and Exegetical Guide.
Caveat: ultrabook battery life is significantly shorter than an iPad.
Thankfully any Logos (or Vyrso) resource licensed for iPad use can also be used in Logos 4 on Mac or PC; albeit Logos 4 on Windows has more usable features than Logos 4 on Mac: wiki has => Feature Parity list. Likewise looking forward to Logos 4 improvements, including feature parity on Mac.
Keep Smiling [:)]
