One Way Panel Linking

The option to link panels only one way would be great. This would allow the user to scroll down on his commentary without it changing the passage being studied in his open Bible panel. In this way the linking would take place between the Bible and the commentary only when the Bible is scrolled up and down and not when the commentary is scrolled.

This is something that has been wanted to the point that users have created their own tools to do it. I guess the reason Logos has hesitated is that if you scroll your linked commentary and the Bible doesn't follow then they aren't linked at all. From a technical point of view. At one point I suggested that, in the resource menu, having upper case letters for the primary driving resource (Bible) and lower case letters for the following resource. I agree and hope Logos listens at some point.

I’m not sure if this is an exact solution for what you want to do, but this might work. In Logos you can have more than one copy of a resource open at a time. Each copy can have its own link set.

So say your favorite translation is the ESV you can open the ESV then you have a couple of options:

Click on the small + symbol next the ESV tab and you can pick the ESV again.
Open your library and search for the ESV, then drag the cover to the tab next to your first ESV copy.

Then open your commentary and set only one copy of the ESV to link to the commentary.

ESV 1 not linked to commentary
ESV 2 linked to commentary

Keep ESV 1 active while reading and scrolling through commentary, then switch to ESV 2 when you want to read your Bible at the place the commentary is.

In any linking you need a driver. If all your bibles are linked w/ "A" then any and all with the 'A' link will follow whichever resource you are in w/that link. You can set your Lexicons to "B" and instead of always doing a BWS just right-click the word and click the first lexicon and all will follow suit, etc., etc.

In all the various Bible-software that I have - none have one-way linking......but it would be a first.

Thanks for the suggestion Philana. I have seen one way linking on Olive Tree's Bible software App for the iphone. I dont know if they have it on their pc app. It seems like something most Logos users would benefit from. Instead of opening up two Bibles as a work around, everyone could just have their one Bible open to the passage they are working on without the original passage being changed on them as they read (especially with commentaries that don't comment on every verse, or when opening a commentary panel that does not have the linked verse available).

You could also just have one Bible and not have it linked then scrolling the commentary would not change the Bible.
