Suggestion for Passage Guide on iOS

I understand that the Passage Guide needs the server to run, and so cannot be available offline.

However, can we make one small change to make the PG on iOS much more useful? When the PG starts, instead of immediately contacting the server to rerun, can it simply remember and display the results the last time it was run? This way, if you know you'll be without internet access, you can pre-run the PG when you're online, then you'll still have the PG results to work with while you're offline.

Does this make sense and what do others think?

I've been testing this idea on my iPad and it appears that if you have the commentaries downloaded onto your iPad you can continue to open them from the PG when offline. You can't change scripture references, of course. If it gives you a connection error just tap ok and continue to use it. This would be a strong incentive to have your favorite commentaries sets downloaded.

I didn't want to comment on this yesterday until I had a chance to look it over. I still haven't had the time, but this has been my experience as well. In other words, I think this already exists.

I just tried it this morning. I ran the PG at home while online. Then when I get on the train (offline), I opened the PG, and it says "no internet connection" etc. -- I tapped OK on the message, and the PG remains blank.

Am I missing a step?

I will revise my earlier comments. I don't go offline very often, so my observation was probably less helpful that it should have been, so I did a little testing here. It HAS been my experience that the passage guide will remain when you go offline… but apparently only when it is still in active memory. I was able to move from the PG to the library & back successfully. The act of loading a book, however, dumps the PG. Consequently, even if the PG remains in memory, when you open up a resource from the PG, it will dump the PG.

To make a long story short, I don't think the PG is very useful offline, even when it stays in memory. At most, you would be able to open a single resource.

Try loading a passage list from the symbol at the top and then go back to your Bible. Then load it from the Passage Guide tool at the bottom of the screen, it should still be at the same Biblical reference. Notice that it loads it again. Then go to settings and put the iPad in Airplane Mode. Now go back to Logos Bible App. My experience is that I can bring up as many books from the Passage Guide that I want, as long as they are downloaded. I can go back to the main screen and change books and still go back to the Passage Guide and open more commentaries. Isn't this your experience also?
