Is it possible to log out of my account on my iphone app after I have already logged in- to go offline on purpose? I don't want the app to add to my data usage when I don't have wifi. It seems like there should be a simple "log out" choice...

HI Benjamin - and welcome to the forums.

There isn't a "log out" choice. If such a thing were possible it would end up removing any downloaded books when logging out so - on balance - wasn't thought to be a good idea.

There have been some discussions about "background network traffic" but I forget the details.

Do you have a view as to what data usage is generated when not using the app?

WarEagle (did you really have to make me say that? [;)]) -

The mobile app uses most data when:

    1. downloading or viewing online resources (rather than previously downloaded ones)
    2. opening the first time (the app downloads all user data)
    3. opening the app cold* (the app syncs updated user data)
    4. creating highlights & notes (since the app syncs)

*By opening the app cold, I mean that the app tends to sync most often when the app has not been hibernating. I will often tell users who are trying to force a sync to "kill" the app via the multi task bar. When you open the app, you are truly opening it rather than "resuming."

If you are worried about data beyond this, you can turn your phone to airplane mode… but that defeats the purpose of having an iPhone. [:P]

As Graham said, Logos doesn't allow you to Log off because it would be pointless since logging off would erase all of your books.

    By the way… RTR [:D]
