This large CP project hasn't moved much at $50. I think it is time to raise our bid to at least $150 and see if we can get it moving. My bid is now $150.
Princeton Theological Review (443 issues)
I have been in at $100 since March. It seemed to me a huge longshot that a 443 volume set would get enough people interested to come in at $50.
I agree. I raised mine too. I'm at $150 now. This is a huge resource and well justifies a price that will let Logos develop the resource without limitations or cost overrun concerns.
Thanks Randall. I'm matching you at $150. I agree it's a great resource.
This is not our current Princeton; it's our forefathers Princeton, a powerhouse of defenders of the faith over 104 years. [1825-1929], 9 different journals, 443 issues total.
Includes papers by Archibald Alexander, B. B. Warfield, Charles Hodge, A. A. Hodge, J. Gresham Machen, Geerhardus Vos, Charles G. Finney, Robert Lewis Dabney, and many others.
AT A BID OF $150, THIS AMOUNTS TO ONLY 34 CENTS AN ISSUE.
I am keeping my bid at $50. I always say that it is not the page count that is important, but what is written on the pages is. While there are some big names listed in the set, the scholarship is between 100 & 200 years old. Therefore, the set is not worth anything more (IMHO) than $50. I need to speak to today's issues with today's scholarship; not to the issues of 100 to 200 years ago using scholarship that is 100 to 200 years ago.
On the other hand, $50 is what it is worth to me. I an already semi-retired (on Social Security Disability) and on a limited budget. I expect to be fully retired within 5 to 7 years. I am no longer doing "research" but preparing sermons.
I would like to have this - I loved the resource in seminary with the authors, content, and insights; but $150 seems to be out of my reach. I may re-evaluate when and if it goes into production, but for now, my bid will stand at $50.
I have been in at $100 from the start & hope to leave it at that amount.

Tom, I tend to agree with you. Now some people may think this is worth 150.00. That is fine. I imagine that those same people would be good at $250, if it moved this forward. However, looking at the the bids (the bids are grouped around $50, not even a bump in the line at 150 after the appeal) so I would be thinking just the opposite. Perhaps it is time for Logos to offer a lower buy in on Community Pricing. I don't see that happening, but it would probably generate interest. But then again, I am not concerned if this title goes to market in Logos. Those great contributors mentioned have written extensively elsewhere (and I have those resources) so if $50 (or lower) doesn't cut the mustard, so be it.
Likewise I won't be raising mine to $150. This is a huge set -- why not break it up in smaller sections? I'll bet there are some subsets of this that would go through in very short time.

And how old is the Bible? Point made!

As great as some of these writers are, they can't hold a candle to Jesus, Moses, Paul or any of the other biblical writers. So to me this is a false comparison.
Ah but you are agreeing older is better.[;)]

Nope -- just arguing biblical is better. There's a bunch of 'old stuff' out there that holds no interest.

But you are saying the age doesn't matter, The Spirit is mighty just as then as He is now.

Evan, we are not talking about the spirit, we are talking about scholarship of the Bible. These things should not be confused.
Evan, we are not talking about the spirit,
I am. If your not, then why aren't you? [:D]
