Noticed you can buy the ESVSB on logos.com. What if I already own the hard copy which came with a coupon enabling me to use it on the web? Can I get the ESVSB on logos now without paying?

I do not think that is how it works, but as KS4J says, you can always ask. The cupon code that came with your hard copy is meant for ESV´s own web portal, www.esvbible.org.

Martin - It wouldn't hurt to ask, except for your time & pride. [;)]

Sakarias is correct - the coupon code that you have is for the ESVSB website. Logos sells value added resources, and needs to make money to keep things going. Logos didn't receive any funds from the purchase of your hard copy ESVSB.

Welcome to the forums, by the way. The forums are a good place to come and ask questions, learn study tips, and find out about sales. The ESVSB has been on sale before, and I anticipate that it will be on sale again sometime this year (perhaps at Christmas, if not before). [:)]

So for those who have this on their Logos software, is it worth it?  I know the notes are outstanding and have set the new bar since the NIV (also repackaged as the NASB) Study Bible.  I am curious if this information integrates well with Logos and is useful.  Thanks.

For me, its valuable as an concise overview rather than a comprehensive commentary.  I use it frequently and have confidence in it's scholarship.

The ESV Study Bible is a Bible Notes resource, which can be linked with other Logos resources (e.g. Bibles, Bible Notes, and Commentaries).  For grins, captured a screen shot with ESV Study Bible and my favorite two commentary series plus some Bibles:

Great!  So this will show up in my very blank Notes section when I open the default Passage Guide?  I was wondering what resources would use this area.  Thank you.

No. That area is for your notes.  Click on the "Notes" tab and start typing.  The notes are saved and will be shown again the next time you run the passage guide for that passage.  I haven't found it to be useful for my purposes.

For Passage Guide, personally created a Study Bible collection using rule:

Title:("Study Bible","NET Bible First Edition Notes")

so can add Commentary section then customize settings to use Study Bible collection (also can add Collection section in Passage Guide to search for cross references to passage in Study Bible collection).

Robert - Perhaps a simplified layout will make it more clear. In the screen shot below, the ESVSB notes are on the right (highlighted in yellow). The ESV text is on the left. The corresponding biblical text to the study notes is the section highlighted in red.

NOTE: since the ESVSB notes are not "inline," but are treated as a separate resource, you can use ANY translation you want. Since the ESVSB notes use the ESV text, it probably makes sense to use the ESV as the base text so that the words and phrases used in the study notes match up.

Excellent.  Thank you for the example.  I tried to add the collection, but, of course, I need a Study Bible before I can set this up.  image

Mē nomisēte hoti ēlthon katalusai ton nomon ē tous prophētas ouk ēlthon katalusai alla plērōsai

(Matthew 5:17)  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

I have understood and I had a lot of preaching but do not have the ability to create software, to distribute to all people in the world so that they read it once and was hooked to read on and believe that Jesus is God is the Savior.

Welcome [:D] to the Logos Bible Software forums.

Please elaborate on "Is there any software on Bible study was an order from the beginning, middle to Advance" ?  Apologies: personally a wee bit confused by question.

Logos Bible Software has awesome study capabilities: advanced example is highlighting morphological usage to show range of verbal intensity in a passage.  Beginning capability is opening Bibles, Study Notes, and Commentary.  Logos 5 screen shot in full screen mode from a 27" iMac shows both plus includes ESV Bible Study Notes and UBS Handbook Series for Matthew 5:17

No.  Software is a tool.  People proclaim.

Thankful can use Logos Bible Software on a variety of electronic devices.
