Faithlife.com is the social platform for Logos Bible Software users -- and everyone else in the church! -- and it's uniquely wrapped around the Word.
Your Logos.com account, which you use to log into Logos Bible Software 4, Logos.com, Biblia.com, Vyrso, etc., is also your Faithlife account. This is what will be enabling sharing your note files, reading a reading plan with a group, and other long-requested functionality for Logos users.
We're making it much bigger than that, though, and integrating support for the the Faithlife Study Bible so that we can engage everyone in the church, not just Logos 4 users. (See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/50545.aspx for a free coupon code for the FSB.)
Why? Is this a distraction for Logos?
No! This is advancing our mission of helping more people do more and better Bible study. Because, while some Bible study is personal and private, much is done in community, or in preparation to preach or teach within the church. Logos Bible Software users are the 'power users' of Bible study, the people who teach and lead. Faithlife is how you can connect and help others grow in their Bible study.
Will you please help us?
Log into http://faithlife.com using your Logos account. (The same email/password you use at Logos.com, and inside our Bible software.)
1. Update your profile by clicking on your name in the upper left, then "Edit Profile" in the upper right. Fill in as much as you'd like, and set the privacy settings for each item if you don't like the defaults. (I've made most of my information public -- https://faithlife.com/bobpritchett -- while keeping a a few things restricted to co-members of closed groups.)
2. Join a group: Most English-speaking churches should already be pre-loaded into Faithlife. You can search for your church using the search box at the top of the page -- just type the name of the church, and the city name if it's a common church name. If you can't find your church, use the "New group" button to create it. If you do find your church, you can join it and then "Claim this group" using the link in the upper right of the group page. Then you can edit the group settings, upload a photo or logo as the group icon, etc.
You're welcome to invite other people to join your church (or any group), though we'd appreciate it if you remind them that Faithlife is still in beta, and is not yet "announced." You can point them to this forum post.
3. Take a look at What's Next. Visit http://faithlife.com/whatsnext to see where Faithlife is going -- we've posted the actual specifications, as well as a short video overview.
4. Tell us what you think! Come back here and let us know what you think! Tell us what you do and don't like, and what you want to see to make Faithlife useful for your church or group.
When the rest of the community Bible study tools (group reading plans, small group guides, etc.) are in place and we're ready to begin promoting Faithlife publicly, many new users will arrive looking to join their church and connect with people they know. We'd really appreciate you "already being there" with a filled-out profile and membership in the church group, ready to welcome these existing members of your real-world communities into using electronic tools for Bible study and sharing.
Thanks!
-- Bob
Pro-tip: If you look at my profile, you'll see that I use italics in my "Bio" field. That's because the Bio field supports our wiki syntax, which is documented at http://wiki.logos.com/Wiki_Help. You can use this wiki syntax to format your own Bio field, and the description of your group. https://faithlife.com/grace-church-bellingham uses it on the "About" tab for bold, a heading, and a bulleted list of hyperlinks to external web sites
