L4M Will no longer open!

Not sure what just happened but I was working in Logos 4 for Mac when I suddenly could not move from tab to tab in the workspace and now L4 WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL! It is rendered useless on this machine and consequently useless to me! I installed the free resource offered last night but other than that I have done nothing different from any other day. Now I am forced to move back to the other program that always works!

The Logos server appears to be down, but I don't know how that affects changing tabs, but I experienced the same problem.

Alabama and Jack,

The windows side of things works using xp in parallels. However as Jack mentioned the server is down and the mac side will not let me do anything. It appears to start as I get the "signing in" box but it ends there! Once or twice I got the logos menu bar but I never got the home screen. I think the changing tabs things was coincidental, in other words that is when the server went down and that rendered L4M unstable for me and I could no longer navigate.

Sign in just worked for me in L4 Mac [8-|]; however, Synch failed [:(] Restarted to add resources, and Synch worked correctly [H]

Windows beta works fine!

If you are using stable Logos 4 Mac (edit: doubtful since posting in Mac Beta forum), one option is recommend calling Logos Tech Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact so can share desktop to show sign in followed by nothing.

Apologies: Logos 4.5c Beta 3 on OS X 10.6.8 launches fine for me (albeit indexing library took three times).

Edit: wonder if can launch Logos 4 Mac Beta to work offline ?

The other suggestion is enabling, then posting diagnostic log files (in a compressed archive) for Logos user and employee comments.

Could enable diagnostic logging, restart Mac, launch Logos 4 Mac. If Logos 4 does not work, then compress log files and attach to a forum reply.

Optional: download and use 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip to display your logging setting, then change to enable logging.

Optional: download and use Logos Log Scribe application to create a zip file on your desktop that includes your diagnostic logs plus a copy of console messages. To diagnose Logos 4 Mac not responding at all, console messages could be helpful.

My latest experience is that Logos support will not talk to you if you are using the beta. Secondly, I never get to chance to "work offline". I get the "sign in" box and then it all goes away and YES it is an oxymoron regarding Windows working and Mac not working!

Looking at Logos4.log appears getting your groups for community notes is crashing in Logos 4.5c Beta 3 so email was sent to Logos requesting follow-up assistance.

Noticed OS X 10.7.4 in Logos4Crash.txt along with adequate temporary disk space.

Getting groups for community notes needs online connection.

Wonder if can work offline ? wiki Logos 4 Keyboard Shortcuts For Mac has a sign-in tip:

Note: every time Logos 4 is launched, the Logos4.log and Indexer.log files are overwritten. When a crash happens, the crash text file is overwritten. In contrast, the Error log file(s) have errors appended.

Logos4.log file shows an error with the Library Index database file.

After blue Logos indexer icon disappears, please attach Indexer.log file.

The Indexer.log file looks the same as previously posted, which lacks a number of lines, including Library Index database file being found.

One way to force the Library Index to be rebuilt is moving (or deleting) your Library Index folder:

/Users/rcdeacon/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/d8m8u31f.fwz/LibraryIndex

Could move your LibraryIndex folder to the trash, then launch Logos 4.5c Beta 3 to "Work Offline" followed by watching for blue Logos indexer icon to appear in the menu bar, then waiting for indexer icon to disappear. While indexing, could hover mouse over icon for status updates. Also could open Indexer.log to watch progress.

OS X Lion note: by default, ~/Library folder is hidden (e.g. /Users/rcdeacon/Library ), with many ways to see contents => http://www.macworld.com/article/161156/2011/07/view_library_folder_in_lion.html and can assign keyboard shortcut =>http://mac.finerthingsin.com/post/7849528212/lion-library-folder-visible

After Library Index is built, the Indexer.log file should have a line like:

LibraryIndex | Library indexing completed in #h #m #s.

Note: # is the number of hours, minutes, and seconds. For my Logos library, took 10 hours 10 minutes 41 seconds to index using Logos 4.5c Beta 3 on Mac OS X 10.6.8

If Library indexing does not complete, please attach Indexer.log file.

Logos 4 indexing can be done while working offline.

Personally had to launch Logos 4.5c Beta 3 offline so could complete library indexing.

Wonder if search is working ?

It is downloading my resources at the present moment. It would not index earlier. At least it is working. After downloading it will have to go through the index sequence so I will leave my laptop running tonight. By morning it should be done. Thanks KS4J.
