Classic Commentary Gems
After the download of the classic commentary on Corinthians. the first book that I opened was Christ Crucified: Lectures on I Corinthians 2 by Dr Adolph Saphir. Over the last few days, i have been greatly blessed as I have devoured lectures 2 and 3 in this series. Prior to receiving this download, I was not familiar with Dr. Saphir or any of his writings and I am grateful to Logos for introducing me to this particular book.
Since the body of available classic commentaries is increasing, I though it would be interesting to start a thread where readers might add to a list of gems that they found within the classic commentaries. The intention of the thread is not to debate theological issues but to point forum users to various books or passages that the reader considers to be an important gem to their study of the Word.

Thomas Manton on the book of James is the best Commentary, which neither old nor newer work can compare with. What makes his work a gem is that he threads the verses together into a context and doesn't treat them as separate 'proverbs'. Still available in CP,is his whole works, which includes the book of James.
