Layout like Logos 3?

Is there any way to return to having open resources grouped (or separate) in multiple overlapping windows like in Logos 3?

The new way of a few non-overlapping tiles on screen might be great on a massive screen, but on my 15" laptop it is driving me crazy. No window is big enough to be useful, without making others tiny and constant re-sizing or F11 for full screen view is slow and tedious (and full screen view blocks easy access to other tiles).

I hope there is a way around this.

Welcome to the forum.

Whilst the tiles or panes may be non-overlapping you can have many resources within a tile, only visible via a tab/label on top (rather than below as in Libronix) until selected. It would be best for you look at the wiki http://wiki.logos.com/Getting_Started_with_Logos and look at the videos therein.

Thanks Dave. I am doing this - typically I have 30-40 resources open at at time across a six-tiled layout. I'm hoping that the 'tiles' can overlap, as they could in Logos 3 - or if they can't, that this functionality will be restored before long.

I've also tried 'floating' individual resources and opening more resources in the same floating window. However, to date, I can't go further than 2 floating windows at once, and I have found it difficult to switch between the floating window and the underlying tiled layout.

I couldn't find anything on the help menu or the introductory Morris Proctor videos.

They cannot overlap because L4 was design to prevent resources from overlapping. Therefore, I would not hold your breath waiting for this to come to L4.

Yes, Logos4 is a straight-laced piece of software. None of that 'easy-going' 60's generation thing from Libronix. You'll want to get used to taking orders, and getting with the program. Put on those sunglasses and not smiling: any change to 'good' means 'not good'. Wait till you see Logos5.

I still use Libronix as my preferred platform; I keep Logos4 open for its lookup capability but not much else. When I first started using Logos4, my impression was it wasted a LOT of space. But by getting RID of a lot of functionality in each panel (a key principle in using Logos4), you can move Logos4 up to Libronix3's space efficiency. Other smart users use the same principle to try to get Logos4 to match Libronix's operating efficiency ... turning off the internet, not highlighting too much, simple notes, etc. .... basically avoiding using Logos4.

I'm not sure why you're limited to 2 windows in Logos4; I use 4 with about 50 resources open. Sometimes there may be 6 or 7 floating windows open (e.g. searches, maps, etc). Of course the downside to this is that all the 'controls' are on the first window.

If 6 vertical tiles then width is too narrow, so try 3 tiles wide by 2 tiles high (starting from 3 vertical tiles, drag a resource into each tile until you see it occupy one half horizontally and then drop it).

I have found it difficult to switch between the floating window and the underlying tiled layout.

Yes, there is some discussion about this. You may have to click in the floating window first, depending how it is opened.
