Are there really two commentaries by the same name? both called Focus on the Bible. Two different authors. Completely different content. Same name. How strange.

Not strange. When you think that some folks like me requested that older volume be included in the series; and in addition the publisher are also updating some volume with new authors and new content. Logos is simply making them available.
It's not really uncommon for there to be updated (replacement) versions in a commentary set. It is a bit unusual that the publication date is so close together. I wonder if the older one is a reprint with a new publisher (making it seem newer than it actually is)? In any case, one covers "Ruth" while the other does not.
The FOBC are in March Madness Sale but you may end up paying for the same book twice.
For example the Matthew commentary is just a reprint by the same author (with a different sub-title) and because its a different ISBN my sales rep says its a different book.
I own the 2005 reprint and not the 2012 reprint! The same is also true for 2 Peter and Jude by Paul Gardner
