finding commentaries

2 suggestions:

I'd like to be able to search for a bible book and only those Bible books come up. I did a search for Ruth just now and books written by Ruth ??? show up. I want to narrow the search to only commentaries on the book of Ruth

 

Also, I'd like to be able to select by ORIGINAL publication date. I tend to like new commentaries as opposed to ones written 100 years ago.

In your library enter:  "title:ruth type:commentary"

If you type something like type:"bible commentary" pubdate:>1950 in the Library find box everything but Bible commentaries published after 1950 should be filtered away. If you click on the Publication Date column it will sort chronologically.

Can't help you with the second part then, but the first part is easy: use the filters in the left column and after clicking a few times you'll end up with  http://www.logos.com/products/search?Resource+Type=Commentaries&Bible+and+Apocrypha=Old+Testament&Bible+and+Apocrypha_Old+Testament=Historical+Books&Bible+and+Apocrypha_Old+Testament_Historical+Books=Ruth&start=0&sort=bestselling&pageSize=60
