Bug: wrong days/dates on reading plan

The 2012 calendar on Mac shows the wrong days for the dates. Today's date is Friday 8th but the reading plan says that it is Friday 9th. Todays reading shows as tomorrow on my mac and today on my iPad. Is this just on my computer or is it the same for everyone?

I cannot reproduce that behavior. It might be helpful to see your log files. Follow the directions here to gather your logs: http://www.logos.com/support/mac/L4/logging

Thanks, I have attached the logs. The instructions said that, after enabling logging, I should open Logos and re-create the error; I was not sure exactly what to do but I simply created a new reading plan. As before, it says that today is Friday June 9th instead of Saturday June 9th.

If you used the method "enable logging for one session" (via the log in screen), you should not need to disable logging. It may be beneficial for you to download the script KS4J wrote for turning logging on & off permanently. (It turns the process into a couple of clicks). When you are trouble shooting, it is helpful to have your system keeping the logs. You can find the script in the thread below:

I don't see anything in your logs that would indicate a problem.

One thing you should check is the system date and time in your Mac OS-X preferences. Select System Preferences > Date and Time and make sure that is correct.

My system time is correct (Saturday 9th June 2012). I can think of no reason why Logos thinks that it is Friday 9th.

Thanks Hunter, you did indeed follow me up on email. However, when I replied, explaining further problems, you stopped corresponding with me. As I explained; when I deleted the documents folder the calendar displayed the day and date correctly. After everything had synced the calendar began showing the wrong day for the date again.

My biggest worry is the horror that awaited me a few hours later; All my notes and annotations were gone. Everything! I was mortified. This morning I realised that the old folder was still in the trash and returned it. I think that it is important for people to know that personal notes and annotations are synced but NOT BACKED UP IN THE CLOUD and if your system crashes, they will not be restored. If people are aware of this then they can make alternative arrangements to back theses up.

That is very odd. Your notes, annotations and other documents very much should be backed up in the cloud and should have been restored along with your Reading Plans.

We'll be looking into this more in-depth going forward.

Monday as the first day of the week (not Sunday as in North America). Currently
Logos is not adjusting the Day headers accordingly. There is an open case for
this.

You may want to try viewing in "List"
view, rather than "Calendar" view.

That was my first suspicion. However, since I too am outside North America, I tested that theory the same day, only to find that it didn't hold water. My RL gets the correct dates on the correct days. And since Sean and I are both on Mac it's not a feature parity issue either.

Forgive my ignorance Hunter but how does The North American view of what is the first day of the week affect the date/day? Monday, whether it was the first or second day of the week, was the 11th both in North America and Africa. Secondly, the previous post seems to suggest that others are not having this problem and it has not been a problem for me previously. Also, you have not addressed the new issue that arose, namely that when I removed the documents folder, logos did not restore my notes an annotations. This is a question that must be answered if I am to trust Logos to backup my notes etc. I generally use Dropbox to backup my files but I am now having to copy my documents folder to my Dropbox every day because I am unsure whether to trust Logos to do it.

I really wish that logos would allow us to relocate our documents folder instead of hiding it in application support. Then I could just locate it in my dropbox easily. I used to back up the whole folder to SugarSync but when I switched to DropBox, this was less convenient.

It is not just the date and day on the Macbut when I open my iPad, it says Yesterday or tomorrow (can't remember which) instead of today and it just gets confusing.

Really , the technology is supposed to assist my devotional life and dealing with bugs does not help me to focus on the word. Getting distracted from the word to deal with technical problems seems to be a modern day "waiting on Tables". Last year we also had problems with reading plans and so I figure that I may go old school and drop logos for devotional reading.

Curiously, I notice that the little calendar - that pops up when you want to select the start date on a new plan - has the correct day and date. So when i want to select today, it say sat 16th but then the big calendar - the one that shows your progress - has Friday 16th??

Hunter must not have seen this, so I will take a stab at it. What he was trying to explain is that the headers (giving the weekday names) are static and do not change, but the date numbers are apparently tied to your OS calendar settings. Since your calendar settings are "off" one day from what the static headers state, your "days of the week" are off by one. (If your os calendar started on Wednesday, the headers would be off 3 days).

By the way, I prefer to have monday listed as the first day of the week, but it has caused me so many problems over the years (confusing other people) that I gave up on it. [:)]

Sorry, we haven't heard anything from development on this issue, though it has been reported and they are looking into it.
