Personal File Folders

The next Logos definitely needs this.  Not being able to organize your personal files and documents under the File menu and, instead, having them all contained in one long list is somewhat of a hassle and irritating (especially to the obsessive compulsive people like me who like organization).  And I mean come on, just adding the option to create folders to store those items in doesn't exactly seem like a difficult enhancement to the software.

For the people with an incredibly large amount of items, who may find themselves in the situation of not even remembering they've created a particular item, this is basically a necessity.  Though I'm not there yet personally, I could easily see someone creating an entirely new Passage List or Clippings file for a subject that they already had done but had forgotten about, thereby redoing work that they may not have needed to.

Time is a very important resource for ministers (this definitely not being news to anyone here).  And every advantage to help us save time should be considered for this software, especially ones that wouldn't be too difficult to implement like this one.  Having as many possible ways to personalize organization is one of the best ways to help us save time in our studies.

With all that said, I am very grateful for Logos.  Luckily, I jumped on this wagon early in my seminary and ministry career.  This will be a valuable asset for many years to come for myself, Lord willing, and for many of His servants.  Thank you Logos team for creating a great product to help God's people share the gospel.

P.S.  As Logos increases in popularity, the Mac version is going to become more and more used, so please continue working hard at getting the kinks out of it.  *hint hint* *wink wink*  (Haha, thanks again.)

    Hi Robert,

Logos does have a file folder system called Favorites. Not only can you create folders, you are able to create links to any document or resource. There are multiple ways to organize items using favorites.

Here are some things to help you get started:

    These should help!

    Blessings!

Thanks.  I've played around with Favorites.  However, in my opinion, it can be somewhat less convenient than I imagine simply having access to folders from a drop down menu would be.  I don't want to keep a Favorites tab up all the time as it takes up space that I'd rather fill with other items.  So that means I have to bring up a tab just to bring up another tab of the item I actually want.  And Logos lacking speed when dealing with tabs at times can make this worse.  Ultimately, the added step is simply unnecessary.

Also, favorites can consist of basically everything.  Which, if you have a lot of other "favorited" items that aren't of your creation, can make it more difficult to simply draw from your own created files.  I'm not saying Favorites should be canned or anything, as it's a good feature.  However, it still seems to me that adding a folders ability from the Files tab purely to organize your own items, and then maybe even redoing the Favorites tab and turning it into a drop down menu instead, or better yet, a Favorites menu with an option to open a Favorites tab, would be a good couple (and potentially simple) additions to the software.

Like I said, having as many possible ways to customize and personalize will ultimately save God's people time in their studies.  It might not be much time for any given individual.  But for the collective of everyone who uses the software, it adds up to much more time that could have been spent more productively than waiting on tabs to load or searching through long lists for a document you made but forgot the name of, or whatever, etc.

Thanks for your thoughts and help though.  (I've actually already watched all of Mark Barnes videos, lol.)
